Adecco is currently hiring a Senior Electrical Engineer for a full-time opportunity in Calgary. This role is ideal for an experienced engineering professional who enjoys leading projects, mentoring teams, and delivering high-quality electrical designs across complex building projects.
In this role, you will lead electrical design efforts from concept through to construction and commissioning, while collaborating with cross-functional teams and supporting multiple project stakeholders. You will play a key role in ensuring design compliance, managing project delivery, and contributing to the growth and success of engineering projects across various sectors.

Responsibilities
Supervise and mentor junior engineers and designers, supporting development of drawings, specifications, and reports
Ensure all electrical designs comply with applicable codes, standards, and regulations
Lead design development, including preparation and review of production drawings with quality assurance checks
Design medium and low-voltage electrical distribution systems, lighting, fire alarm systems, and mechanical equipment connections
Apply utility requirements for service upgrades, new services, and variance requests
Prepare technical reports including building assessments, schematic designs, and development documents
Provide technical and administrative support across all project phases
Collaborate with consultants, contractors, developers, and internal teams to ensure project success
Oversee construction administration including shop drawings, quotations, change orders, and progress claims
Attend site meetings, conduct site reviews, and prepare detailed reports
Manage project schedules, resources, and team performance to meet deadlines
Monitor budgets and scope to ensure financial success and identify opportunities for additional services
Support business development efforts and proposal preparation
Foster teamwork, problem-solving, and a collaborative work environment
Prioritize tasks effectively and ensure timely delivery of all project requirements
Qualifications
Must be eligible to work and reside within Canada
Minimum 10 years of experience in electrical engineering design within the building construction industry
At least 5 years of experience in a senior or project management role
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience
Professional Engineer designation (P.Eng.)
Strong expertise in medium and low voltage systems, lighting, fire alarm systems, and mechanical connections
Familiarity with AutoCAD and Revit
Experience with short-circuit and fault study software is an asset
Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey technical information clearly
Proven leadership experience managing teams and mentoring junior staff
Strong organizational and project management skills
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
In-depth understanding of building codes, electrical codes, fire alarm standards, ASHRAE, and municipal bylaws
Experience in multiple sectors such as residential, commercial, institutional, or industrial projects
Ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders
Experience with transportation projects is an asset
