Adecco is currently hiring a full-time skilled and motivated Environmental & Hydrogeology Technologist to support regulatory compliance and environmental risk management for upstream and legacy oil and gas assets. This role plays a critical part in responsible asset management by conducting environmental fieldwork, analyzing soil and groundwater data, managing contaminated site assessments, and preparing regulatory documentation.

Working as part of a multidisciplinary, integrated team, you will provide environmental, regulatory, and geoscience technical expertise to support Exploration & Production and Legacy Asset teams. Strong analytical capabilities, technical writing skills, data management expertise, and a strategic mindset are essential for success in this role.

  • Location: Calgary, AB

  • Shift: 8 hours per day; 40 hours per week

  • Job type: Temporary | Full-time

  • Duration: May 25, 2026 – December 31, 2026

Responsibilities:

  • Provide regulatory, environmental, and geoscience expertise to support upstream and legacy oil and gas assets

  • Conduct file reviews and compile, analyze, and evaluate complex environmental datasets

  • Support contaminated site management and develop innovative technical solutions to mitigate environmental risks

  • Perform environmental fieldwork, including soil, groundwater, and water sampling for regulatory purposes

  • Assist with environmental field programs under the supervision of senior hydrogeologists, geoscientists, or project managers

  • Prepare, review, and contribute to regulatory applications and compliance documentation

  • Conduct technical reviews and approve reports prepared by third-party consultants

  • Analyze topographic surveys, geotechnical reports, and hydrological data

  • Assist in preparing and reviewing comprehensive environmental assessment reports, including summaries for senior management

  • Support environmental reporting deliverables such as borehole logs, test pit logs, data tables, GIS/CAD figures, and laboratory results

  • Use computer software tools to support engineering, geological, and environmental analysis

  • Maintain and manage environmental databases and project documentation

Qualifications and Skills:

  • College diploma in Geoscience, Geological, Hydrogeology, Groundwater, Earth Science, Environmental Technology, Civil Engineering Technology, or a related discipline

  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience (oil and gas industry experience preferred)

  • Consideration may be given to applicants with relevant experience outside of the stated range

  • Experience conducting environmental fieldwork related to soil and groundwater investigations

  • Strong understanding of regulatory requirements for environmental site assessments

  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills with strong attention to detail

  • Strong technical writing skills and ability to communicate complex information clearly

  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite, including advanced knowledge of Excel and Word

  • Working knowledge of upstream soil and groundwater investigations, hydrocarbon contamination management, and provincial and federal legislation and guidelines

  • Experience with hydraulic, hydrologic, geological, or groundwater modeling software

  • Database experience required

  • Experience with GIS, AutoCAD, and Civil 3D is considered an asset

  • Must be legally eligible to work, and reside in Canada
