Adecco is currently hiring a Full Stack Developer for a leading financial services client. This is an excellent opportunity for a highly experienced technical specialist who thrives in complex, enterprise-level environments and enjoys working on mission-critical systems within the banking sector.

If you have deep expertise in mainframe technologies and a strong understanding of retail banking systems, this role offers the chance to work on impactful projects while collaborating with cross-functional teams in a dynamic environment.

  • Salary: $48.61/hour

  • Location: Toronto, ON (Hybrid – minimum 3 days onsite)

  • Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

  • Employment Type: Full-time | Temporary

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, enhance, and maintain COBOL-based applications on mainframe platforms

  • Collaborate with architects, analysts, and integration teams to deliver reliable batch and online processing solutions

  • Support business-critical systems including banking transactions, deposits, and customer servicing processes

  • Develop and maintain JCL, batch jobs, and online transactions using CICS/IMS

  • Work with DB2 databases, including writing and optimizing SQL queries

  • Manage file processing operations involving VSAM, flat files, and utilities such as SORT, IDCAMS, and IEBGENER

  • Perform advanced debugging and troubleshooting using system logs, dumps, Abend-AID, or equivalent tools

  • Ensure integration with downstream systems including GL, CRM, and data warehouses

  • Support payments and transaction processing such as EFT/ACH, bill payments, and transfers

  • Contribute to risk and compliance processes including KYC, AML, and audit controls

  • Participate in Agile or hybrid development environments, supporting sprint planning and delivery

  • Maintain technical documentation and contribute to system improvements and modernization initiatives

Qualifications

  • Must be eligible to work and reside within Canada

  • Minimum 5+ years of hands-on COBOL development experience in a mainframe environment

  • Strong expertise with COBOL, JCL, TSO/ISPF, DB2 (SQL), VSAM, and file processing

  • Experience with CICS and/or IMS for online applications

  • Strong debugging and problem-solving skills using mainframe diagnostic tools

  • Experience with version control tools such as Endevor, Changeman, ISPW, or Git-based systems

  • Mandatory experience in retail banking, including core deposit products and servicing processes

  • Solid understanding of banking operations including deposits, payments, interest processing, and compliance

  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and documentation skills

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate across technical and business teams

  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a production-critical environment

  • Experience working in Agile or hybrid delivery models

Nice-to-Have

  • Experience with financial core platforms

  • Familiarity with Micro Focus, Rocket Mainframe, or cloud re-hosting tools

  • Exposure to DevOps practices, automated testing frameworks, or modernization initiatives

  • Knowledge of MQ, APIs, ETL tools, or distributed system integrations
