City : Toronto

Category : Full time

Industry : Financial Services

Employer : Interac

Who We Are:

Every transaction matters. Every Canadian matters. At Interac, we protect both — driving trust, security, and inclusion, so our digital economy thrives.

Founded in 1984, Interac connects Canadians through secure digital payments, advanced identity verification and industry-leading fraud protection. Connecting banks, businesses, and individuals, Interac enables millions to send, receive, and manage money safely and effortlessly every day — across both digital and physical environments.

As the backbone of Canada’s financial ecosystem, Interac facilitates over 20 million transactions daily, supported by trusted partnerships with government and financial institutions. Consistently ranked as Canada’s most reputable financial technology brand, Interac is deeply embedded in the daily lives of Canadians.

Who You Will Work With:

The contract role reports to the Leader of Corporate Communications. You will play a central role in shaping how Interac shows up publicly – through corporate reputation, issues management, proactive earned media and product communications. This is a high-visibility role with real ownership, meaningful scope and direct proximity to senior leadership.

What You Will Do:

Corporate Reputation & Issues Leadership

  • Lead proactive and reactive media strategy in a high‑scrutiny, high-stakes environment. Direct rapid response communications for emerging issues, ensuring speed, consistency and disciplined engagement across all channels and audiences.

Proactive Earned Media Programs

  • Plan and execute national earned media programs that reinforce trust, relevance and Canadian leadership. Own end-to-end narrative development, media pitching, partner coordination and performance tracking.

Product & Platform Communications

  • Provide strategic communications support across Interac’s product portfolio, with a focus on FY26 growth and modernization priorities. Deliver PR strategy and go-to-market communications support for Interac Debit, Interac e‑Transfer and Interac Verified, including partner and platform launches.

Strategic Counsel & Cross‑Functional Leadership

  • Act as a trusted communications advisor to product, marketing, government relations and executive teams. Translate complex fast-moving initiatives into clear external narratives, ensuring alignment across earned media, executive platforms, and stakeholder communications.

What You Bring:

  • Eligibility to work for Interac Corp. in Canada in a full-time capacity.
  • A bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, business, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in strategic communications, public relations, or corporate affairs – with a track record of navigating complexity and ambiguity at pace.
  • Proven ability to develop and execute communication strategies that work across diverse stakeholders and shifting priorities.
  • Strong relationship-building skills with external partners and internal teams.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to distill complex ideas into clear, compelling messages for any audience.
  • Comfort operating in a role where not every task will be scoped in advance – and genuine interest in the breadth that comes with that.

What We’re Offering:

The hiring range for this position is $120,000 to $135,000. The exact amount will depend on factors such as skills, experience, and job-related knowledge. Beyond compensation, our Total Rewards package is designed to support your well-being and future, and includes:

• Generous vacation to help you recharge

• Flexible hybrid work model
• Access to a free and confidential 24/7 employee & family assistance program
