As the Dispatcher, you will be responsible for coordinating and dispatching on time deliveries and backhauls while ensuring efficient optimization of routes, equipment and Drivers. Led by the Manager, Transportation and Maintenance, this role will best suit someone with strong transportation knowledge, excellent communication and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
 
Ready to make an impact? Here’s how: 
  • Plan, schedule, and execute inbound load appointments with vendors across Quebec and Ontario for Drivers and third-party carriers.
  • Ensure compliance with transportation and safety regulations (e.g., Hours of Service) using Samsara eLogs to optimize driver utilization and delivery efficiency.
  • Maintain accurate pickup and routing information within the Transportation Planning & Execution (TP&E) system. 
  • Coordinate and assign inbound gate appointments for all incoming trailers, both loaded and empty.
  • Contact carriers to obtain quotes and arrange third-party backhaul operations.
  • Communicate updates or issues related to backhauls and collaborate with internal teams to resolve them.
  • Support KPI tracking and reporting as required.
  • Ensure on-time deliveries by leveraging driver hours of service and Samsara routing insights. 
  • Coordinate outbound shipments by assigning drivers, optimizing routes, and ensuring timely dispatch to meet Dealer and company expectations.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
We’re looking for:
  • One to two years of hands on working experience in the transportation industry.
  • Knowledge of Home Hardware’s shipping and delivery procedures are beneficial but not required.
  • Strong computer skills with the ability to navigate multiple systems; experience with Manhattan TP&E is an asset.
  • Knowledge of transportation safety and regulatory requirements (e.g., Dangerous Goods, Hours of Service).
  • Familiarity with road networks across Ontario, and Quebec.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with strong organization, time management, and prioritization abilities.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a team environment.
  • The ability to be onsite 5 days a week at our corporate office in St. Jacobs, to accommodate the needs of the role.

  • The expected starting salary range for this role is $57,600 to $75,600; the final offer will reflect relevant skills and experience.
