As an intern, you’ll work alongside our experienced practitioners and with our clients and communities. This hands-on experience will equip you with practical skills, build your network, and provide opportunities that set you up for success.

Your Opportunity

Our Transportation group provides comprehensive planning, design, and engineering services for all phases of roadway, transit, rail, and bridge projects. We are currently seeking co-op/interns for our multi-disciplinary team. We are looking for highly motivated individuals who can work in a team environment, are keen to learn and want to be involved in exciting local and regional projects.

Your Key Responsibilities:

  • With guidance, perform geometric design and 3D modeling
  • Support development of design plans and assist with preparation of technical specifications and quantity estimates as required
  • Assist with the preparation of engineering reports and technical studies, including basic calculations
  • Coordinate with other disciplines including structural, geotechnical, stormwater and streetlighting to ensure interdisciplinary design integration
  • Additional duties may include assisting with project coordination, field work and proposal preparation

Your Capabilities and Credentials:

  • Self-motivated individual with the ability to work in a team environment
  • Basic understanding of general civil design concepts in relevant areas
  • Basic understanding of software such as AutoCAD or Synchro would be considered an asset
  • Proficient with the Microsoft Office suite of programs including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • High emphasis on attention to detail and accuracy
  • Team player with a positive attitude

Education and Experience

Currently enrolled in a Bachelors or Masters Engineering program.

Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.

Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
