Job Description

What is the opportunity?

In this role, you will assist in the management of Greater Toronto Region’s strategic and tactical communication and marketing initiatives.

What will you do?

  • Working with the Director of Communications, create and execute communication plans in support of regional and national initiatives
  • Manage day-to-day administration, maintenance and effectiveness of communications channels including RBC Connect
  • Prepare speaking remarks and key messages for regional executives, and provide communication advice and counsel as needed
  • Assist with creation of internal communications, including written materials (announcements, emails, blogs) and visual (design, video production)
  • Manage communications around ongoing network transformation initiatives such as branch consolidations and branch format launches
  • Provide communication support for in-person and virtual conferences, meetings and workshops (e.g., hosting WebEx, managing A/V requirements, developing presentations, working with vendors)
  • Create, develop and manage GTR social media strategy and content, including Hearsay Social and other initiatives to drive social media for business usage
  • Support employee engagement efforts such as Employee Giving Campaign, Employee Appreciation Week, etc. including communications and training
  • Assist Marketing & Citizenship team with communications needs for community partnerships and sponsorships as required (including speaking remarks and news releases/quotes)
  • Manage agency work relating to media outreach around GTR business and community events and strategic initiatives, when necessary
  • Provide support for client complaints and issues
  • Oversee any regional advertising requests and campaigns and provide support to branch network for Marketing Central requests

What do you need to succeed?

Must have:

  • 3+ years of experience in a corporate communications or agency setting or related field
  • Post-secondary education in Communications, Journalism or related field
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Knowledge of social media landscape; interest/knowledge of video production/design/new technology
  • Very good organizational and time-management skills
  • Growth mindset; client and community-focused
  • Strategic thinker
  • Strong teamwork, collaboration and interpersonal skills
  • Proactive attitude/initiative
  • Capable of working with minimal supervision
  • Willingness to learn, adaptability
