Job Purpose
As a Senior Model Validation Analyst, you'll serve as a safeguard, evaluating both new and established models to confirm they are sound, fit for purpose and understandable. This position offers the rewarding opportunity to engage with technological tools and the Quantitative Risk team to support business objectives. We have exciting goals in place for our validation team in the next 5 years. This is a career-building opportunity for an individual to work with a variety of risk models and help play a role in shaping our validation function within the organization.
This role is hybrid remote based out of our Surrey (9900 King George Blvd, Surrey, British Columbia) or Toronto office (3610, 181 Bay Street, Toronto, Ontario). Currently the team meets in office 1-2 times per month at most based on business needs.
Accountabilities
- Conduct end-to-end validation of a diverse range of risk models, including those that support IFRS 9 (Expected Credit Loss), Internal Capital Adequacy Assessment Process (ICAAP), liquidity risk management, and stress testing, to ensure conceptual soundness and technical robustness.
- Perform independent ongoing model performance review and validation, including backtesting and communicating remediation actions.
- Contribute to the development and enhancement of model validation frameworks, leveraging Python and AWS to develop benchmarking analysis and improve the replicability of model output.
- Ensure regulatory and policy compliance by assessing model alignment with OSFI requirements and internal MRM (Model Risk Management) policies and procedures.
- Serve as a subject matter expert on emerging trends in quantitative risk management and financial technology. This includes supporting the enhancement of validation methodologies through continuous education.
Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Finance, or a related field
- Certification in Financial Risk Management (FRM) is an asset
- 2-5 experience years with statistical modeling tools and techniques, including direct experience with model validation, quantitative analytics, credit risk (PD / LGD / EAD)
- Experience with credit risk management or OSFI regulations including expected credit loss, capital adequacy requirements and stress testing.
- Expert statistical modeling techniques including experience with Python, AWS and Github.
- Proficient in written and verbal communication skills.
- Preference will be given to candidates with experience in ICAAP, IFRS 9, Stress Testing, OSFI, Back Testing, Gini, KS, Model Risk Management (MRM), FRM, CFA, AWS
