Adecco is currently hiring a full-time experienced Mechanical Engineer – HVAC & Facilities to join our client’s engineering team in Fort McMurray. This role supports the safe and reliable operation of industrial facilities and occupied buildings, with a strong focus on HVAC systems and facility utilities that protect people, equipment, and production.

As a key technical resource, you will work closely with Operations, Maintenance, and Project teams to deliver practical, field‑ready engineering solutions across production facilities, control rooms, electrical rooms, laboratories, and other safety‑critical areas.

  • Location: Fort McMurray, AB

  • Schedule: Monday to Friday

  • Job type: Temporary | Full-time | 8-month contract

Responsibilities:

Technical Expertise & Engineering Support

  • Serve as the subject matter expert (SME) for HVAC and facility systems across industrial and production environments.

  • Provide engineering support related to:

    • Ventilation, heating, cooling, pressurization, and air quality systems

    • Plumbing and utility systems, including:

      • Emergency showers & eyewash systems

      • Domestic and industrial plumbing

      • Natural gas systems

      • Fuel and lube systems

      • Compressed air systems

Operations Support & Troubleshooting

  • Troubleshoot HVAC and facility issues including airflow, temperature control, pressurization, and equipment reliability concerns.

  • Respond to day‑to‑day operational needs for assigned production areas.

  • Collaborate with Operations and Maintenance teams to develop practical, executable engineering solutions.

Engineering Documentation & Quality

  • Prepare and review engineering work packages, drawings, specifications, and vendor documentation.

  • Support Management of Change (MOC) activities for HVAC, plumbing, and facility system modifications.

  • Conduct field walkdowns, condition assessments, and deficiency reviews.

Project & Lifecycle Support

  • Support commissioning, start‑up, and turnover of new or modified HVAC and utility systems.

  • Provide engineering input into maintenance strategies and long‑term asset lifecycle planning.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.

  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation or eligibility for registration with APEGA.

  • 10+ years of engineering experience, preferably within the oil & gas sector with an HVAC focus.

  • Strong knowledge of HVAC and facility utility system design, operation, and troubleshooting.

  • Comfortable working in an operating plant with regular field‑based activities.

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.

  • Experience supporting production‑aligned engineering roles.

  • Knowledge of Alberta codes and standards governing HVAC, plumbing, and building systems.

  • Experience with MOC processes, commissioning, or facilities asset management.

  • Must be legally eligible to work, and reside in Canada
