Adecco is currently hiring a full-time Project Controls Planner / Scheduler to support our client’s Projects Business Unit in Calgary, AB. This role is responsible for developing, maintaining, and analyzing integrated project schedules to enable the safe, predictable, and efficient delivery of capital projects.

In this role you will work closely with engineering, construction, project management, cost controls, and functional teams to ensure high‑quality planning and scheduling services across all phases of project execution.

  • Location: Calgary, AB

  • Schedule: 40hours/week

Responsibilities:

  • Drive adherence to safety compliance and ensure all planning/scheduling activities support safe execution.

  • Develop, maintain, and continuously improve all aspects of project planning and scheduling for assigned projects.

  • Maintain the Work Breakdown Structure (WBS), work packages, calendars, and resource assignments within project schedules.

  • Coordinate with engineering partners, construction teams, and project stakeholders to build a fully integrated schedule aligned with Major Projects methodology.

  • Present integrated schedules to management for endorsement and update them monthly throughout project progression.

  • Analyze project timelines using Critical Path Method (CPM) techniques and assess schedule impacts from scope changes and change notices.

  • Support onboarding and ongoing stewardship of construction contractors to ensure compliance with Planning & Scheduling requirements, best practices, and contractual obligations.

  • Establish and review field progress and performance systems, including rules of credit, in line with Major Projects procedures.

  • Lead progress review meetings and verify project performance, comparing actuals vs. planned metrics and identifying variances.

  • Conduct audits of claimed progress, manage quantity tracking during engineering, construction, and close‑out phases, and maintain benchmarking data.

  • Prepare, consolidate, and analyze project reports, ensuring accuracy and timely submission.

  • Manage Gate 3 baseline, current plan, and contingency planning during execution.

  • Perform periodic schedule risk analysis and quality checks, supporting implementation of recommendations.

  • Collaborate with functional teams including Cost, Estimating, Engineering, Construction, Supply Chain, Finance, and Governance to ensure complete and accurate planning inputs.

  • Support month‑end reporting for schedule variances, performance metrics, quantity tracking, forecasting, and completion metrics.

  • Participate in bid reviews and supply chain processes as required.

  • Provide support to project teams, cover absences, and respond to ad‑hoc requests.

  • Assist the cost control team by providing schedule profiles and entering required data into tools and systems.

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of direct project controls experience in the oil & gas construction sector.

  • Strong background in planning/scheduling, management of change, contractor performance management, and field progress systems.

  • Working knowledge of estimate development, cost control processes, SAP, and ECOSYS (asset).

  • Experience in mine and tailings projects and ability to operate in a fast‑paced environment (preferred).

  • Bachelor’s degree or relevant trade background (asset).

  • Established Planning/Scheduling professional with well‑rounded project controls expertise and understanding of industry best practices.

  • Ability to support critical project deadlines and deliver high‑quality outputs under tight timelines.

  • Skilled at translating complex schedule data into actionable reports for all organizational levels.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with a collaborative, cross‑functional mindset.

  • Working knowledge of Primavera P6 (version 7 or 8), SAP, and Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).

  • Experience with Primavera Risk and Acumen Fuse is considered an asset.

  • Must be legally eligible to work, and reside in Canada
