Legal Assistant job opening in Milton, ON

Position Type: Permanent, Full-Time
Location: Milton, Ontario – onsite position

Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 5pm
Compensation: $50,000 – 65,000, competitive benefits package
 
About the Opportunity
An established but growing legal practice specializing in estate-related matters is seeking a highly organized and proactive Legal Assistant to join its onsite team. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a professional setting, enjoys working closely with a senior legal professional, and takes pride in delivering accurate, polished work. The successful candidate will support a small, dedicated office where professionalism, reliability, and strong client service are essential. This position involves a blend of legal document preparation, administrative coordination, and hands-on support in daily operations.

What You’ll Do
  • Provide direct administrative and legal support to a senior lawyer
  • Draft, proofread, and format legal correspondence and documentation
  • Manage calendars, coordinate meetings, and track deadlines
  • Maintain organized physical and electronic filing systems
  • Assist with billing, time entry, and docket management
  • Communicate professionally with clients, external parties, and court offices
  • Prepare and file court materials, including electronic submissions
  • Support case preparation, document organization, and workflow coordination
  • Handle sensitive information with discretion and sound judgment
  • Perform general office duties such as scanning, data entry, and document management
  • Contribute to smooth daily operations within the Milton office

Qualifications
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience working in a law firm
  • Completion of a Legal Assistant, Law Clerk, or Office Administration – Legal program
  • Strong understanding of legal terminology, confidentiality, and office procedures
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Adobe, and law-firm software applications
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • High attention to detail, accuracy, and organization
  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Professional, dependable, and client?service oriented
