Human Resources Generalist – Corporate 

As an integral member of a high-performing HR team, the Human Resources Generalist (HRG) provides both strategic and hands-on HR support to advance business objectives in Definity’s Corporate teams. This role serves as a trusted advisor to leaders and employees, championing organizational culture and ensuring alignment with HR programs, policies, and practices. Reporting to the Director, HR Business Partner, the HRG collaborates closely with the HR Business Partner team and Centres of Excellence (COEs) to support organizational needs, drive engagement, and contribute to a positive employee experience.   • Confident in recommending alternative approaches and exercising sound judgment.

What To Expect:

Employee Engagement & Culture

  • Monitor employee experience, retention metrics, and behavioural trends using surveys and ad hoc inputs.
  • Communicate culture, policies, and HR processes to employees and leaders, including through new hire meetings.
  • Support initiatives designed to improve year-over-year employee engagement.

HR Program Implementation & Support

  • Collaborate with the Director, HR Business Partner to implement HR programs within Corporate groups.
  • Provide feedback on HR initiatives and advocate for business unit needs with COEs.
  • Complete HR transactions in Oracle (e.g., offer flows, data updates).

Employee Relations & Leadership Support

  • Respond promptly to employee and leader inquiries, resolving issues with professionalism.
  • Coach leaders through performance, conduct, and other employee relations matters, escalating as needed.
  • Conduct investigations.
  • Work with Director, HR Business Partner to analyze trends and brainstorm solutions.

Organizational Design & Development

  • Support organizational design activities and business unit structure changes.
  • Coordinate training and development initiatives including change management, strategic planning, leadership coaching, and team building.

Operational Excellence

  • Provide timely HR services, support, and guidance to client groups.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance operational performance using lean thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Collaborate across HR to drive process improvements and promote consistency.
  • Advise managers on HR best practices, policies, and processes.
  • Work independently to prioritize daily tasks, escalating complex issues appropriately.

What You Bring:

  • University degree or college diploma in Human Resources or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • CHRP/CHRL designation completed or in progress.
  • 5-7 years of experience as an HR Generalist, HRBP or similar role, preferably in a corporate environment.
  • Strong knowledge of HR practices including benefits, compensation, employment law, employee relations, talent management, and learning & development.
  • Excellent communication, coaching, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency with HRIS systems (e.g., Oracle) and MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, including comfort preparing data-driven insights.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities under tight timelines.
  • Dependable, proactive, and flexible, with a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Curiosity about the business to ensure HR support is aligned with operational needs.

    Salary Range: $73,500-$123,500
