Why is this role important?
The Risk Advisory group delivers innovative and business-focused Advisory and Assurance, Business Risk Management, and technology-enabled solutions across the entire Loblaw portfolio. We focus our efforts on the fundamental areas that help protect, grow, and elevate our business’s governance, operations, and results.
As the Manager, Assurance & Advisory, you will lead a variety of high-impact, high-visibility advisory and assurance engagements, driving project strategy, quality, delivery, and stakeholder engagement across our diverse portfolio. You will shape insights that matter, influence decision-making at senior levels, and ensure our work consistently delivers meaningful value. Our engagements span process optimization, data analytics and visualization, risk assessments, assurance over high-risk programs, and special priority consulting projects requested by senior management and the Board.
A critical part of this role is your ability to act as a strong coach and mentor to our high-performing team, helping build the next generation of Risk Advisory talent through thoughtful guidance, feedback, and empowerment.
We’re looking for a curious, business-oriented, and entrepreneurial leader who brings strong critical thinking, communication, and people-development skills, and who thrives on delivering clarity, uncovering insights, and driving impact in a complex environment.
What you’ll do:
- Lead and oversee a portfolio of assurance and advisory projects, guiding integrated project teams (and at times, hands-on delivering) through planning, execution, and reporting while ensuring deliverables are clear, visual, insightful, and business-oriented.
- Own stakeholder relationships across the business, providing strategic perspectives and effectively communicating risks, opportunities, recommendations, and root-cause insights.
- Mentor and coach Analysts and Senior Analysts, developing their analytical, communication, and project management skills and fostering a high-performing, collaborative team culture.
- Drive thought leadership through deep & rapid knowledge building in key areas, and successfully translating that knowledge into actionable insights and innovative approaches for the business, with a level of influence that drives resulting action and improvement.
- Demonstrate ability to pull on past relevant experiences/knowledge to connect the dots and deliver stronger and more practical results/recommendations.
- Represent Risk Advisory as a trusted advisor, offering practical solutions and ad-hoc support to management as needed.
Does this sound like you?
- 4-6 years of relevant experience, which may include management consulting, project management, operations, operational internal auditing and/or external audit/advisory (Big 4 firms experience is an asset).
- A bachelor’s degree in business or a related field; MBA, CPA, CIA, PMP or similar designation is a strong asset.
- Highly proficient with Microsoft Office applications, including advanced Excel and PowerPoint; data visualization experience is an advantage.
- Strong business acumen, demonstrating strong understanding of the link between strategy, operations, risks, and controls in a cohesive narrative.
- Exceptional communication skills, particularly in developing and delivering clear, compelling, and visually engaging stories and presentations.
- Proven leadership and coaching ability, with a passion for developing talent and elevating team performance.
- Collaborative, curious, and solutions-oriented leader with an entrepreneurial mindset and the ability to thrive in an agile environment.
- Strong work ethic and genuine desire to make a meaningful impact on the business and community.
