We're searching for a Business Development Executive, Westland Group Benefits. Are you searching for new possibilities?

Westland Insurance Group Ltd. is growing, and we're looking for a driven, relationship-focused sales professional to accelerate the growth of our national Group Benefits division. As a Business Development Executive, you'll identify, develop, and secure new employee group benefits business opportunities across Canada. This is a high-impact sales role focused on generating new logo wins, expanding market presence, and strengthening client relationships while collaborating closely with internal teams. This position is a hybrid role based in Calgary, AB, with travel as required.

Why we'll love you:

  • 5+ years of experience in business development, sales, or client acquisition in the group insurance or employee benefits industry
  • Proven ability to meet or exceed B2B sales targets
  • Strong understanding of group benefits products (health, dental, life, disability)
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills
  • Proficiency in CRM systems and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Life licensed (LLQP) in your home province
  • Industry designations such as CEBS or GBA considered strong assets
  • High-energy, resilient, and growth-oriented mindset
  • Strong relationship-building skills and consultative approach


Once here, you'll:

  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities through outreach, networking, inbound leads, and digital channels
  • Meet and exceed individual sales targets within the Group Benefits division
  • Develop and manage a strong pipeline using CRM tools with accuracy and clarity
  • Conduct discovery conversations to assess client needs and recommend solutions
  • Prepare and deliver proposals and sales presentations to decision makers
  • Collaborate with Marketing, Underwriting, and carrier partners to develop effective strategies
  • Close new logo deals aligned with company goals and compliance requirements
  • Stay current with industry trends and Westland's suite of benefits products
  • Represent Westland at conferences, networking events, and industry sessions
  • Ensure smooth onboarding and handoff of new clients to Account Managers
