ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE

This role reports to Institute for Sustainable Food Systems Director – Kent Mullinix

SUMMARY

The Research and Extension Assistant 1 will support applied research projects and extension programs under the supervision and direction of the Research and Extension Program Manager and research associate(s).

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist in research and extension projects
  • Assist in the preparation of reports and other documents as required
  • Attend research and extension team meetings and stakeholder meetings as required
  • Provide support to KPU Farm Schools and other extension events as required
  • Any other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

  • An interest in learning more about British Columbia’s food systems
  • An interest in small-scale, regenerative agriculture
  • Ability to use basic office technologies (e.g. Microsoft Office) effectively and to adapt to new technologies that may be introduced
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to work independently and as a team member
  • Positive, professional, and collaborative attitude and demeanor
  • Class 5 driver’s license is an asset
  • Access to a vehicle for commuting to and from research and extension sites is an asset
  • Preferably studying or had relevant work experience in agriculture, policy studies, accounting, economics, horticulture, environmental protection, or related fields

*Salary Information  

Anticipated hourly pay rate:  $21.95-$24.33
