SUMMARY - Maintenance Technician

We are seeking a Maintenance Technician to support the day-shift and ongoing preventive and corrective maintenance activities within our client’s production environment in Sarnia, ON. This role is responsible for troubleshooting electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical systems, performing routine and abnormal repairs, maintaining equipment readiness, and ensuring optimal productivity through quality, cost efficiency, and reduced downtime. The technician will work closely with site leadership and equipment manufacturers to maintain machinery, prepare work areas, and support operational workflow.


QUALIFICATIONS - Maintenance Technician

  • Experience with preventive and curative maintenance

  • Ability to troubleshoot electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical issues

  • Familiarity with maintenance registers and documentation practices

  • Comfortable working with production machines, grinders, drills, and general tool sets

  • Ability to operate a forklift

  • Experience conducting room cleaning, degreasing, and preparation

  • Capable of supporting installation and assembly of machinery

  • Basic IT competency (scanners, digital logs, maintenance tables)

  • Ability to train employees on Level 1 mechanical and electrical systems

  • Strong organizational and time management skills for scheduling maintenance


RESPONSIBILITIES - Maintenance Technician

  • Perform preventive and curative maintenance on production equipment

  • Conduct routine and abnormal repairs on machinery

  • Use and maintain a range of machines and tools, including crates washing machine, forklift, grinders, drills, IT tools, scanners, and production machinery

  • Support manufacturer technicians during on-site interventions

  • Prepare, clean, and degrease rooms and workspaces

  • Diagnose and resolve electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical issues, including equipment such as compressors and welding machines

  • Assist with installation and assembly of new machinery

  • Manage and monitor spare parts inventory

  • Establish and maintain the machine prevention schedule

  • Organize maintenance activities according to established timelines

  • Record preventive and curative maintenance interventions in appropriate systems

  • Monitor breakdowns and support reduction of downtime

  • Perform Level 1 employee training on mechanical and electrical systems

  • Optimize productivity through quality control and efficiency improvements
