Network Engineer (Implementation & Operations) – Cisco & Wireless Specialist

Adecco is currently seeking a skilled Network Engineer (Implementation & Operations) for a high-impact contract opportunity with our premier manufacturing client. This role is based in Brantford, ON, and offers a hybrid work model combining on-site technical execution with remote regional support.

If you are a hands-on technical professional with expertise in Cisco Catalyst switching, VLAN management, and Wireless LAN Controllers (WLC), this is an excellent opportunity to lead network projects at a major manufacturing site while supporting the broader Americas region.

Job Details

  • Job Type: Full-time Contract

  • Contract Duration: April 1, 2026 – April 30, 2027 (with possibility of extension)

  • Location: Brantford, ON (Hybrid)

  • Compensation: Competitive hourly rate (T4 or Independent Contractor options available)

  • Schedule: Standard business hours with required on-call rotation and after-hours project cutovers.


Position Summary

As a Network Engineer, you will be the primary technical resource for network infrastructure at our Brantford facility. Your focus will be split between implementing network projects (LAN, WAN, and Wireless) and providing Level 2/3 incident support for the Americas region via ServiceNow. This is a strictly infrastructure-focused role requiring independent configuration of enterprise-grade hardware in a fast-paced industrial environment.


Key Responsibilities

Network Configuration & Operations

  • Independently configure and deploy Cisco Catalyst switches.

  • Manage VLAN assignments, port configurations, and logical/physical connection validation.

  • Administer and operate Wireless LAN Controllers (WLC) and configure enterprise Access Points (APs).

  • Deploy approved network designs into live production environments with minimal disruption.

Project Implementation & Coordination

  • Act as the Implementation Owner for all network activities at the Brantford site.

  • Execute technical designs provided by the remote engineering team.

  • Coordinate with third-party installation partners and validate deliverables against technical standards.

Incident Support & Troubleshooting

  • Provide Level 2 and Level 3 network support for the Americas region.

  • Utilize ServiceNow to manage tasks, troubleshoot connectivity issues, and perform root cause analysis.

  • Escalate complex technical issues to regional engineering when necessary.

Documentation & Administration

  • Maintain accurate network inventory and update Visio network diagrams.

  • Prepare weekly progress reports on project status and operational health.


Required Qualifications

  • Experience: 5–8 years of hands-on experience in Network Engineering or Network Operations.

  • Cisco Expertise: Proven track record configuring and managing Cisco Catalyst series switches.

  • Networking Fundamentals: Deep understanding of VLANs, routing protocols, and network segmentation.

  • Wireless Skills: Direct experience with WLC administration and wireless infrastructure deployment.

  • Tools: Proficiency with PuTTY, Visio, and ServiceNow (or similar ITSM tools).

  • Environment: Ability to work effectively in a manufacturing/industrial setting.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certification: Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or higher.

  • Education: Degree or Diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

  • Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with manufacturing IT infrastructure requirements.
