ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE
This role reports to Faculty of Arts.

SUMMARY
The Student Assistant Indigenous Residency Support will assist the Communication and Events Coordinator on the planning and execution of various KPU and Faculty of Arts (FOA) events related to the Faculty of Arts Indigenous Artist, Writer, Journalist, or Knowledge-Keeper in Residence. These residencies require additional support for events, communication, and administrative assistance while at KPU.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work under supervision and guidance of the Communications and Events Coordinator.
  • Assist with planning, setup, coordination and operational logistics of FOA and KPU events.
  • Act as a liaison between the residencies and the KPU internal and external community.
  • Attend events to support the residences and engage with current students and community members.
  • Communicate and promote events when appropriate.
  • Document experience, events, and activities with photography and/or film (using video).
     

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Qualified candidates will have an interest in Indigenous arts, writings, and research
  • Familiarity with Indigenous protocols and research methodologies is an asset
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate clearly with others
  • Problem solver, works independently and manages time effectively to meet deadlines

     

This position is reserved for KPU Students only.

Salary Information

Student Assistants are paid as per the following:

Less than one year of post-secondary (less than 30 credits) – BC Minimum Wage
One year of post-secondary (30-60 credits) – BC Minimum Wage plus 8%
With a post-secondary diploma or degree – BC Minimum Wage plus 21%
