We are seeking a DCS and PLC programmer for a large capital project for a highly integrated Industrial Control Systems (ICS) in the wastewater treatment industry. Additionally, this person will participate in future Water/Wastewater projects across the region as a part of the Electrical, Instrumentation and Controls team.

Your Opportunity

  • Develop and implement industrial control systems configurations, graphics, databases, and other connected systems.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of advanced software applications and automatic control strategies.
  • Participate in simulations, testing and commissioning process control applications.
  • Participate in troubleshooting and resolving system issues.

Your Credentials and Education

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field, with 3 years’ experience in DCS and PLC programming in a plant process or manufacturing environment, system design, modifications, and analysis, or 2-year technology diploma in controls or instrumentation, with 5 years applicable experience in DCS and PLC programming.
  • Requires knowledge of, and experience with, operating systems such as Microsoft Office Suite and related support systems. Demonstrated ability in the use of computer applications and systems related to the position and duties in DCS and PLC programming.
  • Experience in the application and startup of industrial process controls is required.
  • Good working knowledge of, and experience with, current applicable communication protocols.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Demonstrated initiative and ability to work independently using sound judgement to make decisions.
  • Ability to read and interpret detailed engineering drawings and descriptive control narratives.
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions and regulations applicable to the position’s area of work.
  • Willingness and ability to undertake additional training relating to the duties of the position.
  • Valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License.
  • This position requires working at different sites within the Metro Vancouver region.

Typical office environment working with computers and sitting at a desk for extended periods of time.

Pay Range:

• Locations in Lower Mainland - BC-$86,900.00 - $126,000.00 Annually

Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
