For more than 100 years, Seaspan has been an important part of the development of British Columbia and its industries—and, in return, we strive to make sure that our organization is always evolving and progressing. We want to be a role model for business, and we have the vision and courage to drive change. In addition to our Seaspan Pride Employee Group, we have established an Employment Equity & Diversity Committee across the organization. The Committee acts as an advisory to Seaspan employees and leadership to help us achieve and maintain a workforce that represents the communities in which we operate.
Since time immemorial, Indigenous peoples have walked on the diverse traditional territories where the Seaspan community is grateful to work, live and play.
Seaspan acknowledges the traditional unceded territories of the Musqueam Indian Band (xʷməθkwəy̓əm), Squamish (Skwxwú7mesh), Tsleil-Waututh (Səl̓ílwətaʔ/Selilwitulh) Nations, the Lekwungen (lək̓ʷəŋən) speaking peoples, today known as the Esquimalt and Songhees Nations, and the Tsawwassen First Nation and Musqueam Indian Band (xʷməθkwəy̓əm) where our facilities are located.
We also acknowledge the diverse traditional territories of the First Nation communities located in Northern British Columbia that our marine businesses connect us with.
We are committed to building and nurturing relationships with Indigenous peoples, we acknowledge their traditional lands, and we thank them for their hospitality.
