Operating under detailed instructions and review, the purpose of this position is to provide the essential technical knowledge and perform the work listed. This role has the responsibility to promote Fluor's competitiveness within the global marketplace by delivering quality services of unmatched value and technical competence.
We are currently seeking an intermediate HVAC Designer having experience in designing HVAC systems for Oil & Gas facilities to join our team. Principle responsibilities consist of, but are not limited to:
• Assist lead HVAC engineer with preparing HVAC documents, drawings, and calculations including:
- gathering building information and heating loads from other disciplines
- setting up parameters for Carrier HAP software
- using psychrometric chart or software to plot simple cooling, heating and humidification processes
- using software to calculate pressure drop in a duct system.
• Design the ductwork independently, including sizing the ducts, routing the ductwork based on the building layout, placing the duct components, etc.
• Prepare 2D HVAC drawings using AutoCAD, including:
- Air Flow Diagrams,
- Ducting & Instrumentation Diagrams/HVAC P&ID / HVAC Schematics
- Other drawings as requested.
• Prepare 3D HVAC models of advance complexity using Smartplant / Smart 3D, including:
- HVAC equipment,
- HVAC ducting and accessories (eg. dampers, transitions, fittings, etc)
- HVAC duct supports.
• Extract HVAC general layout drawings from Smartplant / Smart 3D using SmartSketch.
• Run HVAC reports in SmartPlant 3D and prepare duct MTOs,
• Review 3D models using SmartPlant Review and take initiative to solve design issues,
• Review vendor drawings and documentation,
• Review drawings from both within the discipline as well as from other disciplines
• Assist Lead Engineer in preparation of Engineering/ Construction Work Packages (EWPs/CWPs).
• Coordinate closely and effectively with other disciplines
• Support HVAC lead and Mechanical lead to ensure full compliance of HVAC design with company standards and client requirements
• Other related duties/functions as assigned
