DIRECTOR, WOMEN’S TRANSITION HOUSING AND SUPPORTS PROGRAM:
($99,429 - $116,975 - Annually)
POSITION SUMMARY
Reporting to the Associate Vice President, Supportive Housing and Homelessness, the Director Women’s Transition Housing & Supports Program is responsible for providing strategic provincial oversight of the delivery, by non-profit societies, of housing and support services for women and children fleeing violence. He/she/they is BC Housing’s provincial lead for partnerships with other branches of government and manages the strategic relationship between BC Housing and the BC Society of Transition Houses (BCSTH). The position oversees the development of women’s housing programs, ensuring they meet defined mandates as well as the needs of each region. He/she/they oversee the provision of advice and evaluates and analyzes financial and operational reviews for service providers. The role acts as the subject matter expert for various internal and external stakeholders on issues pertaining to women in housing, transition housing, women and children fleeing violence, and related support services.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
The successful candidate will have the following:
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's degree in business or public administration, community development, social services, or other relevant discipline.
- Considerable experience and knowledge of the planning, development, and implementation of programs, with specific experience in social housing programs related to violence against women, women in housing, and providing safe shelter and support services to women.
- Considerable experience in developing, facilitating, and managing relationships with a variety of external stakeholders.
- Or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience acceptable to the Employer.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Considerable knowledge and understanding of the philosophies, practices, and standards relating to the design, development, implementation, and evaluation of social housing programs and social services, particularly for women and children fleeing violence
- Considerable knowledge of issues relating to the anti-violence sector
- Considerable knowledge and understanding of non-profit society governance, management, and operation
- Sound knowledge and understanding of effective interventions to break the cycle of violence and of the intersection of trauma, mental health, and substance use issues
- Ability to learn, understand, and apply BC Housing’s mandate and programs and policies in delivering social housing and social services to the vulnerable throughout the province
- Ability to plan, develop, manage, and evaluate program activities and link them to program outcomes and key performance indicators
- Ability to establish and maintain constructive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders including housing associations, health authorities, and provincial/federal/local governments to address issues relating to the delivery of programs and services across the province
- Ability to manage multiple issues and projects, coordinate work with others, keep senior management apprised of major issues, and adapt to changing priorities
- Ability to lead, coach, and motivate staff in a team setting
- Proficient in the use of software systems and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Effective consultative, facilitation, consensus building, problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills
- Effective leadership, verbal and written communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
