3 Ways Pride at Work Canada Can Fuel Your LGBTQ2+ Diversity Work

juillet 3, 2018 editor Communiqués 131
By Jason Reilly In June of 2017, as we danced down the middle of Yonge Street in our fourth consecutive Toronto Pride Parade, I couldn’t help but reflect back on how it all started. From humble beginnings to a major public celebration of our diversity, we couldn’t have done it alone. It took a village (people!). Yesterday and Today: A response to Justin Trudeau’s Apology to LGBTQ2 Communities

novembre 29, 2017 editor Défense des intérêts 2SLGBTQIA+ 139
On Tuesday, November 28, 2017, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau apologized on behalf of the Government of Canada to LGBTQ2 (lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, queer, and, two-spirit) communities across the country. He apologized for decades of discrimination, active and passive, a milestone for community members who have endured countless injustices from institutions meant to protect them. The Prime Minister’s apology recognized the intentional and systemic oppression many LGBTQ2 community members faced at the hands of the Canadian government, acknowledging that homophobia, biphobia, and transphobia have been built into the structures that this nation was formed on. Importantly, the Prime Minister noted...

The words below have been adapted from an interview with Susan Gapka, which took place on November 17, 2017. Pride at Work Canada would like to extend our immense thanks for all community members who continue to do inspiring work, which changes our world for the better.   Today marks the 18th annual Trans Day of Remembrance, which began to commemorate the death of Rita Hester – a trans woman whose murder remains unsolved to this day. Trans Day of Remembrance commemorations and celebrations happen all over Canada, and should be events driven by and for trans communities. Gwendolyn...
