Job Description:
Our team is growing! We are looking to hire a Training Specialist with experience in Wealth Management and Insurance!
Within the Learning & Development team, the Regional Training Specialists are primarily responsible for the delivery of learning to Sun Life Financial Distribution (SLFD) & Prospr advisors, and relationship management with regional field leaders. They also play an instrumental role in providing input and feedback to the development and maintenance of learning content, and making related updates as needed.
Training in scope includes but is not limited to onboarding; relationship and sales management; sales tools; leadership and business development; and compliance. Training specialists are assigned to one or more streams of training and to one or more audiences.
Our Training Specialists ensure that we provide an exceptional learning experience to our learners, while contributing to and aligning with the business growth plans. This position will report directly into the Director of Content and Strategy.

What will you do?
Delivery Excellence
Execute the training strategy in relation to the assigned training content stream(s) and audience(s) Content for delivery will align to both insurance and wealth offerings to ensure that participants have a working knowledge of ‘One Best Way’ of performing their duties and delivering a client experience aligned to our vision, policies, and compliance requirements.
Deliver training content in workshops, forums and other learning events as required aligned to target advisors, associates, leaders.
Deliver train-the-trainer sessions as needed to identified audiences (e.g., other training specialists, managers)
Manage synchronous and asynchronous interactions with the learners before, during, and after learning events.
Identify the best blend of delivery mechanisms and strategies for each training program (e.g., self-paced, VILT, classroom, multimedia, etc.)
Implement various learning methods (e.g., coaching, job-shadowing, online training)
Provide delivery support in both a virtual and face to face environment.
Deliver existing, as well as develop, recommend, and implement new learning interventions to provide SLFD & Prospr advisors with the knowledge, skills and competence required for their roles.
Lead and facilitate change management for training on new processes etc.
Identify, leverage and coordinate training opportunities with internal/ external strategic partners across 3rd parties, Prospr, and SLFD.
Impactful Relationships
Work with the key business partners to identify needs and evaluate the impact of business initiatives on the assigned training content stream(s) and audience(s).
Identify learning needs and helping develop new or update existing training content.
Seek opportunities to partner across 3rd party, SLFD, and Prospr for relevant content for product, sales, processes, client engagement.
Have a full understanding of various business units and their specific training requirements.
Support product launches and campaigns by working with appropriate stakeholders to ensure the sales team is prepared and understands how our solutions address Client’s needs.
Continuous Improvement
Participate in the development of sales tools, sales ideas and concepts used in the Client For Life Interaction Model, building appropriate training material as necessary to support those tools/ideas/concepts.
Review and provide sign-off on applicable training material as needed, prior to submission for approval.
Collaborate to produce and maintain learning program collateral for training events, workshops, and forums.
Required to keep up to date on all technology and process enhancements to ensure that participants are receiving the most up to date information and material.
Continuously identify opportunities to create additional value, generate new ideas and creative solutions that help advisors grow and manage their practice.
Collect, review, and make recommendations to future program enhancements based on advisor and sales team feedback.
Work closely with the Learning & Development team for effective advisor onboarding, ongoing continuous learning program, appropriate content/sales messaging, and tools to support advisors.
What do you need to succeed?
Post-secondary education and minimum 5-7 years progressive experience in financial services, preferably in a marketing/business/communications role.
Facilitation skills and an understanding of training best practices.
Understanding of the financial services marketplace with particular focus on wealth and insurance products and practice management for financial advisors.
Exceptional organizational skills to maintain quality of work.
Advanced skills in Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, Adobe Suite, Adobe captivate, HTML5, Howspace.
High adaptability and flexibility, including the ability to manage deadline pressures, ambiguity, and change.
Excellent listener and communicator as changes within the organization, product offerings or sales content must be communicated.
Full professional capacity in English; French and/or Mandarin considered an asset.
Strong knowledge of investment management industry and products and services within the financial services market.
A passion for providing engaging learner-centric experiences through facilitation, instruction, and task tension.
Strong interpersonal, coaching, relationship management and mentoring skills.
The ability to take direction and use critical thinking to complete work within established deadlines.
Strong initiative for continuous improvement of themselves, the process, the team, and the learner experience.
CFP, CLU or other industry designations would be an asset
Certification in Adult Learning or related field would be an asset
Ability to travel on occasion, regionally and nationally
Bilingualism (French, English, both oral and written) is required for Quebec only as the incumbent will be responsible for creating and delivering training to employees and/or English and French-speaking clients across Canada or worldwide.
Bilingual in Mandarin is an asset
The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance. Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
