PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
The Team Lead Purchasing is responsible for providing leadership and coaching to a small number of purchasing analysts while managing a specific work scope as purchasing specialist. You will also assist the purchasing manager to support team’s capability development, performance management and effectively implement procurement policies and best practices.
POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Lead and develop a team of 2-3 purchasing analysts
- Provide coaching, guidance and set clear performance expectation with the team
- Responsible for hiring, onboarding and training of the new staff
- Manage day to day performance expectations and support business and personal development goals of the team
- Act as working manager with a senior buyer responsibility for assigned material categories
- Accountable to meet or exceed service delivery expectations of the business for the assigned portfolio
- Track and report operating metrics to identify areas that need improvement
- Drive efficiencies through data analysis and lead continuous improvement initiative of the overall PO lifecycle management (Req to PO)
- Regular monitoring of demand channels (purchase requisitions, projects, email requests etc.) and develop effective supply strategies to meet short- and long-term demand
- Guide the business requestors and the team to select the right sources of supply based on the existing sourcing strategies and contracts
- Develop culture of collaboration, respect, and accountability with internal and external stakeholders for compliance with spend strategies, contracts, and CPKC’s purchasing policies
- Attend meetings with internal and external stakeholders as required
- Set clear service delivery expectations with the business and provide regular stewardship to the business and procurement leadership
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, Engineering, Finance or Commerce
- 5+ years of experience in purchasing contract management and supplier management in a large/complex organization in addition to a min. 1 year leadership or supervisory experience
- SAP/ERP experience
- Proven experience in Continuous Improvement and value creation
