We are recruiting a Team Lead our Health and Wellness Site Services team located at our Fort Hills and In Situ sites north of Fort McMurray.You will lead and support site medical personnel and oversee health surveillance, emergency services, and first aid medical programs. If you have a strong understanding of the principles, concepts, practices, standards and regulations of occupational health, we’d like to hear from you! This role will implement programs, policies, procedures, and standards across the Health and Wellness Site Services team.
Minimum Requirements:
Post-secondary education in nursing
Licence to practice in Alberta and hold a current registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA)
Occupational Health Nurse Certificate and/or registration with Canadian Nurses Association preferred
Previous coaching, mentoring, and people-leading experience
Technical knowledge of disability case management, return to work programs, health surveillance, wellness programs, emergency services & first aid, medical principles, concepts, practices, standards, and regulations
A valid driver’s licence and a clean driving record
Experience in heavy industrial settings preferred
Good computer skills; knowledge of Cority or equivalent electronic health record systems would be considered an asset
Strong collaboration skills that enables you to build strong, positive relationships with diverse groups
Ability to anticipate potential problems and check for out-of-the-ordinary conditions, as well as having a strong sense of accountability
Ability to remain calm and composed in emergency situations
Responsibilities:
Lead and mentor Site Services team of Occupational Health Nurses and Nurse Practitioners fostering a culture of engagement and health
Oversee third-party medical providers working in the health centre facilities
Plan, implement, and evaluate the delivery of first aid, emergency response, health surveillance, and health promotion programs across Fort Hills, Firebag, and Mackay River
Conduct audits to ensure that projects are completed at planned, equipment and material are maintained, and procedures are strictly followed
Collaborate and consult with Integrated Disability Management to support disability case management and facilitate return to work programs
Uphold privacy and confidentiality policies and processes to ensure secure management of medical records
Lead the planning and execution of wellness initiatives and training programs
Manage contingency planning and staffing for turnarounds and major projects
Build and strengthen relationships with diverse stakeholders, including regulatory bodies and local health authorities
Location and other Key Details:
You will be on a Fly-In-Fly-Out Rotation from one of the approved hubs of Edmonton or Calgary or a Bus-In-Bus-Out of Fort McMurray
You will work out of our camp-based Fort Hills mining site with occasional support to Firebag, located in Alberta’s Athabasca region, 90 kilometers north of Fort McMurray, Alberta
Travel to other sites may be required (ex: Calgary, Base Plant, Syncrude Aurora, Syncrude Mildred Lake etc)
The shift schedule is a four days on / three days off rotation
