Senior Designer - Unreal Engine VR - Sportsnet
Who we're looking for:
Our Sportsnet team is seeking an experienced and passionate full-time Senior Designer - Unreal Engine VR with proven work in virtual reality/augmented reality /broadcast / film / commercial or gaming. Your thirst for quality work, current cultural trends, and all things creative is complimented with exceptional 3D design skills. You love to create, think different and take ownership of projects.
Potential candidates must be comfortable wearing multiple hats as we need you to be creative, technically adept, and proficient in 3D design, with leadership skills to match. You will work with a small team of production professionals to build and innovate our VR and AR capabilities and deliver best in class creative for our Sportsnet productions and brand partners. As Sportsnet is a continuous operation, this position may require evening and weekend work.
What you'll do:
- Embrace 3D design and motion direction to bring ideas to life in our broadcasts through Virtual and Augmented Reality.
- Partner with our sales group and production teams to generate new AR and VR ideas.
- Conceptualize and execute compelling designs from a blank canvas.
- Assess and communicate technical needs, risks, gaps and opportunities as they relate to content experiences and new features.
- Stay on top of technical advancements and creative trends.
- Break down complex projects into simple, compelling ideas that are easy to communicate.
- Collaborate seamlessly and effectively between sales, production, engineering and creative teams to innovate and ensure best in class creative.
- Provide creative feedback on projects.
What you bring:
- Strong portfolio/motion reel with professional work examples that demonstrate creative thinking and concept development.
- Proven leadership experience.
- Expertise in Cinema 4D and Unreal Engine (modelling / lighting / texturing/special effects / dynamic camera movement).
- Blueprint and scripting experience within Unreal Engine
- Excellent Substance Painter skillset.
- Zero Density - Reality experience is a plus.
- Solid foundation in graphic design, motion design and design theory.
- Demonstrate full technical and practical knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite (specifically After Effects & Photoshop).
- Experience in gaming or broadcast production.
- Ability to work under the pressure of quick turnarounds and rise to creative challenges under tight deadlines.
