The Faculty of Dentistry, Dalhousie University, is seeking applications for a full-time, probationary tenure-track or tenure-track prosthodontist at the rank of assistant or associate professor.
Prosthodontics is a division in the Department of Dental Clinical Sciences. Teaching responsibilities for this position will include didactic, pre-clinical, and clinical teaching in all aspects of Prosthodontics in the Faculty’s undergraduate and graduate programs. Additional expectations include active participation in research and scholarly activity and faculty committees.

Candidates must possess a DDS/DMD, must have successfully completed specialty training in Prosthodontics and be eligible for licensure by the Provincial Dental Board of Nova Scotia. If the candidate has not successfully completed their National Dental Specialty Exam (NDSE) in Prosthodontics administered in Canada, they must successfully do so within 12 months of the start of the position. Private practice privilege is integrated with this appointment; however, the Provincial Dental Board of Nova Scotia does not offer academic licensure.

Preference will be given to those candidates with didactic and clinical teaching experience at the undergraduate and graduate levels in prosthodontics. Broad experience with removable, fixed and implant prosthodontics is desirable. Experience with digital prosthodontic workflows would be an asset. Additional educational training in the form of instructional courses to support one’s academic career is an asset. Development of a program of research is required, therefore experience as an independent principal investigator in research related to prosthodontics is an asset.

Salary and academic rank will be commensurate with the successful candidate’s qualifications, experience and achievements. The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate a commitment to service including patient care in addition to supporting the University’s efforts in equity, diversity, inclusion and accessibility.

Preference will be given to those candidates with a history of scholarly activity. Additional expectations include active participation in research and scholarly activity, Faculty committees and other administrative duties.

Dalhousie University is located in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. Halifax is a vibrant capital city and is the business, academic, and medical centre for Canada’s east coast.

All qualified candidates are encouraged to apply; however, Canadians and permanent residents will be given priority. The university encourages applications from Indigenous persons (especially Mi’kmaq), persons of Black/African descent (especially African Nova Scotians), and members of other racialized groups, persons with disabilities, women, and persons identifying as members of 2SLGBTQ+ communities, and all candidates who would contribute to the diversity of our community.
