What you’ll do
It’s safe to say, there’s no shortage of variety in what we do. Here are some key accountabilities of the role:
- Assesses existing operations to identify and prioritize sustainability initiatives to meet government and organization requirements, supports and provides input into development and implementation of sustainability policies and procedures
- Obtains alignment sustainability programs and initiatives from partners; develops and shares tangible and non-tangible benefits of programs
- Participates with cross-functional business teams and stakeholders across all Divisions to develop new sustainability plans, maintain and establish new goals and metrics to measure the Company’s sustainability performance, providing input on new and existing store plans and upgrade requirements to existing stores
- Provides direction and guidance to team member(s) on department activities, reviewing performance, providing continuous feedback, mentors and trains team member(s) and is a resource to answer questions and discuss best practices
What you’ll need
To begin your career with us, we require the following:
- Familiarity with renewable energy technologies, energy management systems and waste management practices, sustainability auditing preferred
- Advanced knowledge of and ability to apply architectural/engineering principles to the design of stores for multiple projects of varying degree of complexity, including knowledge of construction/building systems (i.e. HVAC, plumbing, electrical), and knowledge of maintenance procedures including door and fixture repair, painting, caulking, floor maintenance, ceiling tile replacement, and safety precautions
- Project management skills including structured project methodology (i.e. determining needs, researching existing programs, etc.), preparing and maintaining detailed development plans for projects, determining project specifications, understanding and applying principles of project control and knowledge of and ability to use project reporting systems
- In-depth understanding of waste valuation methodologies and recycling systems, strong knowledge of data governance principles and experience with data management tools
- Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to act as a collaborative partner with senior management and positively influence management and staff to act in the best interest of the Company
- Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate and direct a workgroup; people management skills including coaching, providing advice and guidance to Managers to resolve issues/problems; evaluating performance and providing feedback to team members; participate in the recruitment, selection and orientation of staff
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to read, write, communicate, and interpret information accurately; bilingualism an asset
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills to provide solutions; ability to leverage prior experience and adapt quickly to the changing work environment to make effective decisions, revise business strategies to support the vision of the organization
Salary Range: $95,000 - $110,000* /year
*This represents the expected hiring range and may not represent the full pay range for the position. The salary offered may be higher than the posted range depending on several factors such as relevant skills, qualifications, and experience.
