Professor, OTA PTA
Mohawk College School of Health and Community Services Occupational Therapist Assistant Physiotherapist Assistant (OTA/PTA) program requires a professor with an Occupational therapist designation to teach for the program. Under the direction of the Associate Dean, the professors in the OTA/PTA program are responsible for providing academic leadership and for developing an effective learning environment for students.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The duties of this position will include, but are not limited to the following:
- Teaching a variety of courses in the program as assigned.
- Evaluating student progress and performing academic advising.
- Developing and revising curriculum.
- Enhancing educational delivery through the use of technology.
- Participating in program quality assurance activities.
- Participating in program, divisional and college-wide recruitment and marketing activities.
- Participating in special projects to support the community educational needs.
- Participating in the communication and outreach to community partners for placements and clinical relevance.
QUALIFICATIONS:
The successful applicant will have:
- Diploma or Degree in Occupational Therapy.
- Master’s degree an asset.
- Applicant will have proof of active registration with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario.
- Further credentialing in the field is an asset.
- Minimum five years of diverse and current experience in the field of Occupational Therapy.
- Engagement in ongoing and relevant professional development and be able to demonstrate knowledge of current practice.
- Teaching experience in a relevant post-secondary educational program and/or continuing education is an asset.
- Strong computer skills in Microsoft office and educational learning technologies.
- Preference to a demonstration of leadership in education through seminars, papers, community education and/or conference involvement.
- Demonstrated commitment and understanding of human rights, equity, diversity, and inclusion with the ability to communicate and work effectively inter-culturally with diverse groups of students, employees and the community.
The successful candidate must have an ability to relate theoretical knowledge and practical applications through innovative delivery methods to provide a meaningful learning environment for students of diverse backgrounds and ages. The ability to work as part of a team and demonstration of excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential.
Faculty members hired at Mohawk College must be prepared to teach with a learner-centered approach and to assist in the development and application of alternate delivery methods. He/she/they may be assigned to teach classes at any College Campus.
