The Faculty of Health at Kwantlen Polytechnic University invites applications for one 57% Non-Regular Faculty Position Type 2 (NR2) to teach in our Bachelor of Science in Nursing Advanced Entry (BSNAE) program. The appointment is for the period January 1st, 2025 to December 31st 2025. NR 2 Faculty are entitled to paid vacation leave, professional development leave and benefits.
FACULTY OVERVIEW:
The Bachelor of Science in Nursing - Advanced Entry (BSN-AE) program is a full-time program for students who have already completed a baccalaureate degree and are looking for the opportunity to transition to the field of Nursing. The program prepares nursing students to work with individual, families and communities with varying health and health promotion needs across the lifespan. Program courses are offered in a hybrid or online format, supported by practice experiences within healthcare agencies and communities. Nursing students will work with clients and healthcare providers across diverse settings in the healthcare system. Students complete seven (7) academic semesters to graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree. Graduates will be eligible to apply for registration with BCCNM which includes successful writing of the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX) exam.

POSITION OVERVIEW:
Non-Regular Faculty Type 2 (NR2) members are accountable for 10 months of the year. The 10 months accountable time includes such activities as teaching, the counselling of students, curriculum/program development, professional development and participation on a variety of educational committees.
Teaching duties include:
- The development and revision of course outlines and curriculum
- The preparation of courses, including but not limited to course presentations, online delivery platforms, and
- other course related activities
- Responsibility for the delivery of courses, including lectures, seminars, laboratories, clinical supervision,
- simulations, field trips, and online or hybrid course delivery
- Student assessment, testing, and placement
- Student consultations, including office hours
- Work integrated learning placements
- Submission of grades in accordance with policy
Service may include:
- Participation in program, department, faculty, and university committees and events.
- Participation in program quality assurance activities including program review and accreditation
- Participation in regional, national and international committees and other professional organizations
Faculty members in the BSNAE program may be assigned to theory, clinical or labs.

Course Description:
Episodic Health Challenges - Clinicals (NRSG 3510)
- In this course, students will engage in a relational process with individuals and families experiencing chronic and episodic health challenges in agencies and care facilities. They will enhance their knowledge and develop awareness of, and sensitivity to, the experience of health perceived by individuals and families. .
Mental Health - Lab (NRSG 3610)
- This complementary lab course occurs prior to clinicals and serves as preparation for the clinical experience. It provides students with the opportunity to apply and develop nursing skills specific to mental health care. Students will learn to build supportive relationships with clients, deliver safe and effective care, and enhance their decision-making abilities. Emphasizing ethical practice and adherence to professional standards, the lab offers hands-on experience in organizing, evaluating, and documenting care for individuals with mental health challenges.
Mental Health - Clinicals (NRSG 3610)
- In this course, students will relationally engage with individuals and families experiencing chronic health challenges, with a focus on older adults and mental health. They will reflect on the complexities of caring for families with chronic health and/or mental health challenges. Students will enhance their knowledge and develop a keen sensitivity to the experience of health as perceived by individuals and their families.

QUALIFICATIONS:
The required academic credentials to teach in the BSNAE are specific to the program and are as follows:
- Master’s Degree with at least one degree as BSN or MScN (PhD or EdD preferred)
- Eligible for practicing membership with BCCNM with no limits, no conditions, no terms.
- Post-secondary teaching experience, online or blended curriculum experience or training preferred.
- Related work experience, recent clinical experience

SALARY INFORMATION:
Placement on the salary scale will be dependent on level of education and relevant teaching experience. Advancement up the pay scale is based on FTE and employment status.
This competition is for a maximum FTE of 57% (NR2).
