The Opportunity
We are currently recruiting for casual hourly Minor Officials for Athletics and Recreation. The focus for this position will be to provide support for SAIT Trojans athletic events. Minor Officials will be responsible for home game engagement, enhancement, and promotion.

The Minor Official Position encompasses the following roles. Successful applicants will be assigned one role each and will not be expected to perform ALL roles.
Announcer: You will introduce the teams, input music when appropriate, announce the score, promote events, and thank sponsors. A strong microphone presence is essential.
Required Qualifications:
1. Enjoys public speaking.
2. Has experience talking to large crowds and reading scripts.
3. Has a clear understanding of the sport they are interested in announcing.
Mascot: A mascot is a fun, energetic symbol of the SAIT Trojans. You perform during games, appear at community functions, and pump up the people around you!
Required Qualifications:
1. Willing to wear the mascot costume during games.
2. Likes to dance, interact with people and pump up the crowd.
3. Willing to assist with SAIT events apart from game days (i.e., Orientations, festivals, etc.).
Scorekeeper: You will handle all paperwork on the score table – fill it out according to ACAC rules and work with the liaison to make sure results are correct.
Required Qualifications:
1. Have a clear understanding of the sport they are interested in scoring.
2. Previous experience preferred.
Statistician: (Basketball, Volleyball, Soccer and Hockey)This position requires the person to sit at the scorer’s table (or penalty box) and track all stats accurately according to ACAC guidelines. You will also be responsible for getting the starting line ups from coaches prior to the game. Stats are operated through a computer software program called PRESTO. Inputting stats after each game will be required for hockey, volleyball, and soccer.
Required Qualifications:
1. Have a clear understanding of the sport they are interested in taking stats for.
2. Willing to input stats after the game is over, working later where required.
3. Previous experience preferred.
Trojans Photographer: You will take high quality photographs of the athletes before, after and during the game. Photographs must look professional as they will be used for the Trojans social media pages and advertisements.
Required Qualifications:
1. Photographers are expected to have their own camera equipment.
2. Enrolled in the SAIT Photography program (preferred)
3. Previous experience and photography education.
Time Clock Operator (Basketball, Volleyball, Soccer and Hockey): During the game it's this person's responsibility to run the clock for warm-up, in game, and intermissions. The timekeeper also keeps a running track of scores and must pay very close attention to the game to ensure the clock is started and stopped at the proper time.
Required Qualifications:
1. Have a clear understanding of the sport they are interested in timekeeping for.
2. Understand when to start and stop the clock.
Production & Broadcasting Operations: This position is responsible for the successful broadcast of home games. You will help set up the broadcasting, cameras, and sound equipment. Applicants should be confident in broadcast systems technology and filming sporting events.
Required Qualifications:
1. Previous experience using a camera and broadcasting equipment.
Esports Engagement: Supervise the Esports lounge on campus, to ensure students are welcomed, engaged, and have a positive experience.
Required Qualifications:
1. Have the ability to work a wide range of hours including evenings and weekends.
2. Knowledgeable regarding Esports, video games, and the Trojans.
Intramural Facilitator: Organize, facilitate, and promote Trojans Intramural Sports. Intramural sports include volleyball, basketball, soccer, badminton, and dodgeball. The Facilitator will be responsible for organizing the schedule, helping teams register and refereeing each game.
Required Qualifications:
1. Be familiar with one or more of the intramural sport options.
2. Have a clear understanding of the sport they are interested in facilitating.
Social Media Coordinator: Create and post creative social media stories for each home and/or away Trojans game. This position may be required to travel around Alberta on occasion.
Required Qualifications:
1. Be confident with Instagram and Twitter management.
2. Previous experience writing recaps and short articles.
3. Available to attend most home and away games.
