POSITION SUMMARY
We are seeking a Legal Assistant for our Real Estate practice area in our Calgary office who has a unique blend of skills and experience and the motivation to provide exceptional support for a very busy real estate practice with respect to Developer / Vendor conveyancing project files.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Administer conveyancing for Developer / Vendor of residential real estate files (new condo and non-condo developer project) from open to close under lawyers direction;
- Preparing trust letter packages for Developer / Vendor of residential real estate files conveyancing;
- Responding to client inquiries supporting file matters; maintaining and organizing files with a robust follow up system;
- Prioritizing workflow to ensure completion of accurate work within established timelines;
- Preparing requisitions for wiring and depositing funds;
- Establishing a professional rapport with clients and colleagues; and
- Any other related duties, as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
- Post-secondary education in Legal Administration and / or Law Clerk Diploma preferred;
- Up to 2 years of experience real estate practice experience;
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written)
- Passion for working in a team environment, willing to help others and comfortable with sharing work assignments
- Attention to detail, proofreading and accuracy are required; proven ability to produce a high quality and quantity of work under tight timelines
- Technical proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
- Knowledge of accounting / time entry systems and document management systems (Elite and iManage) is an asset
- Excellent organizational and follow up skills; ability to exercise sound judgment in setting priorities
- A high-level of discretion, sensitivity, and confidentiality
- Professional client and telephone manner and a proven track record of working with confidential information
- Able to work independently in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
- Must have excellent problem solving skills, and the ability to work with little instruction
- Professionalism demonstrated with colleagues and clients, both in person and by phone
- Responsive and proactive
