PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
This position plays a vital role in ensuring flawless and timely payroll processes, maintaining compliance, and providing outstanding support to our employees. We are looking for an Analyst Payroll to join our team and contribute to a vibrant environment that is crucial in achieving our ambitious goals. This position can be based in Winnipeg, Manitoba or Kansas City, MO.
POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Accountable for the timely and accurate processing of the company’s payrolls for US Union and Management employees.
- Serving as the main contact for employees, CPKC collaborators, and various third-party vendors including Interpreting data for legal and claims requests.
- Analyzing system issues, identifying root causes, and testing system improvements, changes, and fixes.
- Providing analysis and testing, and serving as a department backup during system replacement or improvement projects to support payroll accuracy.
- Ensuring accurate entry of W4 forms and direct deposit information into SAP, as well as processing other deductions, including calculating payroll using SAP every day
- Completing various timely payroll data audits to ensure payroll accuracy and SOX compliance and continuous improvement
- Providing back-up to other payroll functions as needed, including taxes, garnishments, deductions/benefits, and payroll processing
- Performing ad hoc reporting, analysis, and special projects
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- An undergraduate degree in a relevant field
- A minimum of three (3) years of relevant professional experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience with SAP HR ECC is an asset.
- Experience in the railroad industry, Union payroll experience, CPA, FPC (Fundamental Payroll Certification), or CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) is an asset.

Management Conductor Program:
Becoming a qualified conductor or locomotive engineer is the single best way for a management employee to learn the business at CPKC. You may be required to obtain a certification or to maintain your current certification/qualification as a conductor or locomotive engineer. (Canada and US all Non-Union positions only)
