This role sits within Laurentian Bank.As part of the Finance group, the Corporate Accounting team is responsible for producing reliable financial information for Laurentian Bank and its subsidiaries. Reporting to the Accounts Payable Manager, the incumbent is responsible for the efficient and accurate processing of supplier invoices, payment follow-up and record keeping. He or she also participates in the processing and validation of certain accounting entries, thus contributing to the reliability of the financial statements.
Responsibilities
• Analyze and interpret data on recurring expense activities (accounting allocation, transit, etc.) to ensure proper accounting in financial statements and by business line
• Open and modify suppliers in the accounting system
• Manage the receipt of invoices via e-mail in order to authorize them
• Ensure proper authorization of invoices via the approval system with the various managers of the Bank and its subsidiaries
• Properly process invoices approved for payment, in accordance with deadlines.
• Process accounting entries in the accounting system and validate approval levels
• Perform compliance checks and reconciliations
• Ensure compliance with policies, programs and procedures in the sector;
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of current legislation, particularly with regard to the various Canadian sales taxes.
• Participate in internal and external audits by providing the required documents.
• Participate in the wire payment process.
Qualifications
• College diploma (DEC) in accounting or related field
• 4 to 6 years' experience in a similar position
• Knowledge of basic accounting principles
• Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office suite
• Thoroughness, organizational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
• Bilingualism (French/English)
*Professional working proficiency in French and English languages required as position involves frequent written and oral communication on complex matters with internal and external parties in both languages.
