Overview:
Pembina's Pipeline Corporations Calgary office is currently recruiting for a Sr Accountant to join the team. This position will report to the Supervisor, Financial Accounting in the Financial Reporting and Accounting Area part of Pembina’s Pipelines Controller Group.
Responsibilities may include but not limited to:
• Assist the Financial Reporting and Accounting team in the monthly accounting processes within the Pipelines Division;
• Reconciliation between IFRS/U.S. GAAP/Regulatory Ledger;
• Provide financial variance analysis for the Corporation’s quarterly and annual MD&A and financial statement disclosures;
• Preparation of quarterly account reconciliations
• Preparation of monthly and quarterly journal entries
• Develop and maintain internal controls over accounting transactions and financial reporting to support accurate internal and external reporting;
• Provide the required information and support for both external and internal audits, including assisting with the audit process and relationship with external auditors for Alliance Pipeline;
• Prepare and perform analysis on the quarterly and annual regulatory compliance filings;
• Identify and facilitate opportunities to improve operational efficiency throughout the department and support implementation of reporting process improvements and Digital Finance transformation;
• Assist the planning and operations teams with the analytical review of business unit performance and results to budget and forecast for monthly management reporting;
• Exercises professional judgment to strike the right balance between the business objectives of the business unit and the Company’s requirements under IFRS;

Qualifications:
• Minimum 7-10 years post-designation experience in similar or related roles;
• Bachelor’s degree (Commerce, Bus. Admin or related discipline) and professional accounting designation required;
• Strong technical accounting skills, with experience in IFRS or US GAAP accounting interpretation and analysis;
• Ability to leverage technology and automation to improve business processes;
• Experience with SAP/BPC an asset, with the ability to create ad-hoc reports as required;
• Federal, Provincial and US Federal regulatory accounting and reporting knowledge would be considered an asset;
• Attention to detail and excellent analytical skills;
• Strong organizational skills with proven ability to prioritize and manage multiple competing demands under tight deadlines, and adaptability to changing priorities;
• Effective communication, organization, and team building skills complemented by a strong work ethic;
• Motivated self-starter who performs well independently and within a team environment;
• Ability to adapt to changing priorities.
