Position purpose:
The purpose of this position is to foster the holistic development of athletes, guiding them to excel both in their sport and in life. We achieve this through comprehensive strength and speed training, personalized performance optimization, and the promotion of lifelong fitness habits. Our structured communication systems and regular evaluations ensure that every athlete receives tailored support and clear feedback. By maintaining high standards of accountability and leveraging innovative tools like the Team Builder app, we provide a cohesive and motivating environment. Through our internship program and staff development initiatives, we cultivate a culture of continuous learning and professional growth. Ultimately, we aim to mold Gee-Gee athletes into successful young professionals who embody the values of dedication, resilience, and excellence.
In this role, your responsibilities will include:
- Lead team-specific strength and speed training sessions tailored to the team's unique needs to enhance athletic performance. Develop and consistently implement warm-up and cool-down routines for practices and game days to optimize performance, prevent injuries, and promote recovery.
- Enter all training programs into the Team Builder app, providing athletes with easy access to schedules and workout plans, and educate them on using the app to track progress and communicate with coaches.
- Maintain and update comprehensive communication sheets, including overviews, rosters, schedules, programming, and testing documentation, at the beginning of each semester and on a weekly basis to keep the team informed and aligned.
- Conduct regular meetings, such as weekly IST check-ins during fall and winter, bi-monthly in summer, weekly GGP SR meetings, and bi-weekly check-ins with primary and secondary staff to ensure effective communication and coordination.
- Develop engaging social media content to promote team philosophies and achievements, educate athletes and staff on the GGP Training System, and foster a culture of accountability and positive relationships to encourage compliance and motivation.
- Regularly update the team stats file after each of the 2-3 annual testing sessions to track metrics like speed, strength, and endurance. Provide coaches with updates and individual athlete profiles for personalized feedback. Prepare an annual SRP report summarizing key performance indicators and attendance.
- Generate attendance reports three times a year to monitor participation and ensure athlete commitment.
- Lead internship sections to provide hands-on experience in athletic training and team management.
- Review and give feedback on interns' and junior coaches' tests and assignments, and complete yearly reviews with the Lead Performance Coach.
- Contribute to refining the GGP Training System by developing and standardizing protocols for warm-ups, injury management, and performance habits, ensuring consistency and accessibility for staff and athletes.
- Focus on holistic athlete development, aiming to mold athletes into successful young professionals who excel both in their sport and in their personal lives.
- Maximize athletic performance through tailored training programs, continuous feedback, and support.
- Promote essential skills and habits necessary for lifelong fitness and well-being, encouraging athletes to maintain an active lifestyle even after their competitive careers. This involves teaching time management, leadership, and teamwork, ensuring athletes are prepared for success beyond the sports arena.
