The Senior Specialist, Digital Learning Strategy and Planning is responsible for supporting and advancing the university's digital learning strategy. This role involves developing and implementing strategic initiatives, identifying funding opportunities, fostering collaborations with internal and external stakeholders, and ensuring the successful execution of digital learning projects. The manager will work closely with various departments, including the Professional Development Institute, Teaching and Learning Support Services, faculty members, and external organizations to enhance the university's digital learning capabilities and offerings.
Specific Accountabilities
- Develop and implement an action plan aligned with the university's digital learning strategy and objectives, including setting goals, defining metrics, and monitoring progress to align resources and support objectives.
- Identify, pursue, and secure external business development opportunities, such as partnerships, collaborations, and new digital learning initiatives, to expand the university's reach, impact, and revenue streams.
- Research and identify relevant granting programs and funding opportunities to support digital learning projects and collaborate with appropriate teams to develop and submit compelling proposals to secure funding.
- Monitor and report on the progress of digital learning initiatives, ensuring that projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards, while proactively identifying and mitigating potential risks and challenges.
Knowledge, Experience and Skills
- Undergraduate degree and a minimum of seven years’ directly relevant experience, or a master’s level degree and a minimum of four years’ experience, or an equivalent combination of related education and experience.
- A minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in business development, project management and administration.
- Strong understanding of current trends, best practices, and emerging technologies related to digital learning and academic program administration normally acquired through hands-on experience;
- Extensive knowledge of University policies, procedures and management systems;
- Excellent project management skills, with the ability to oversee multiple projects simultaneously, manage timelines, budgets, and resources effectively;
- Experience in change management and the ability to drive the adoption of new digital learning initiatives across the university;
- Demonstrated ability to identify and secure external funding through grants, partnerships, or other sources to support digital learning initiatives;
- Ability to take a broad, long-range approach to problem-solving and decision-making that involves objective analysis, forward thinking and planning;
- Demonstrated leadership abilities, organizational and administrative skills;
- Experience in liaising and maintaining relationships with various stakeholders; Strong attention to detail, risk assessment and conflict resolution skills;
- Excellent communication and presentation skills to interact with various partners. Ability to clearly develop and deliver information;
- Experience in analyzing market research and data to inform digital learning strategies and decision-making;
- Demonstrated experience using information systems and software such as MS Windows suite of software, spreadsheets, database, financial systems, e-mail and internet;
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in French and English.
