This position is moving to OPG Corporate Headquarters: In Summer 2025, OPG will officially welcome employees to our new Corporate Headquarters located at 1908 Colonel Sam Drive, Oshawa, Ontario. This new space will enable teamwork, collaboration and innovation that will help us to achieve our mission to electrify life in one generation. This position will be temporarily based in Toronto, ON until the move to Headquarters in the Summer of 2025.
JOB OVERVIEW

Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for a dynamic, strategic and results-driven professional to join our team in the role of Senior Analyst, Corporate Development.
Reporting to the Sr Manager, Corporate Development, the Sr Analyst, Corporate Development will play a critical role in supporting and guiding teams in evaluating the financial impact of major corporate projects and strategic initiatives. These projects may include new-build power developments, mergers and acquisitions (M&A), and support for various investment-related and other business projects.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Develop and maintain complex financial models to evaluate new development, M&A, and other decision economics such as Power Purchase Agreement or Energy Supply Agreement negotiations or business case developments
- Support due diligence, and risk assessment and mitigation processes
- Understand and keep up with changes in government funding programs and income tax principles and their application to financial modeling
- Work closely with financial advisors as part of a transaction and ensure that key aspects of the deal and contracts are reflected in the modeling
- Help with financial integration of successful investments and subsequent business performance reviews
- Support executive leadership and management decision-making with investment reporting
- Coordinate and assemble data for the business planning process and external agencies such as the Independent Electricity Operator or Ontario Energy Board
- Other duties, as required
EDUCATION
- Four-year university degree in Commerce, Economics, Finance, Business Administration or a related field.
- Finance designation (e.g., CPA, CFA, or CBV) and/or an applicable post-graduate degree (e.g., MBA) are an asset.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Superior Excel financial modeling skills; project finance modeling background is beneficial
- M&A and/or New Build Development evaluation experience in the power generation and electricity, energy, or infrastructure with an understanding of regulated, contracted, and merchant revenue mechanisms
- Strong business writing and PowerPoint presentation skills, including the ability to effectively communicate information to senior management
- Proven ability to perform under time and information constraints
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while balancing competing priorities
- Comfortable working independently with minimal supervision
- Background in corporate development, M&A, investment banking, valuation, FP&A, restructuring, or equity research is preferred but not required
- Target experience level: a combination of 8-10 years of professional and academic experience

The base salary range considers many factors including, but not limited to experience, education, and training, including any collective agreement requirements for union represented positions. It is not typical for the salary to be offered near the top of the range, and salary is dependent on numerous factors. For management roles, the base salary range does not represent the total compensation package. The total compensation package for regular full-time management roles includes pay-for-performance programs for annual and medium time periods.
