Our Strategy & Foresight Department is seeking a Senior Planner, System and Policy to join their team!
What You Will Do
Reporting to Manager, Transit Systems Planning (Acting) you will carry out research and special studies on various transportation related issues, methods and procedures and prepares reports as well as statistical data on short- and long-term effects and policy alternatives in each case. You will monitor existing services, plan new routes and services, undertake technical reviews and recommend changes to transit services in support of major projects. As Senior Planner, System and Policy, you will supervise work of staff and provides technical expertise in coordinating major projects and research activities. You will ensure highest levels of customer service and operational feasibility within available budget and adherence to policy guidelines. You will be responsible for developing operational standards to guide staff and propose new solutions and prepare TTC's response to development projects.
- You will maintain service quality and conformity with the budget, identify the best way to reallocate resources, as necessary to best serve customers within the budget and policy constraints established by TTC.
- Assist in development and maintenance of departmental information systems and computer modelling capabilities for transit planning and research applications.
- Recommend research procedures, initiate the development of improved procedures and techniques, and ensure consistent internal procedures governing transit services.
- Undertake and co-ordinate special projects, requiring liaison with senior staff from within and outside the department, municipal staff and other personnel outside the TTC.
- Perform variety of data acquisition, system planning and cost- benefit analyses to ascertain the effectiveness of existing procedures in support of departmental activities. Prepare proposals for new policies and recommend changes.
- Supervise the work of assigned Transit/Operational Planners to provide technical guidance and expertise and co-ordination of major projects and research activities.
- Prepare and review comprehensive reports and recommendations on a wide range of operational and service planning issues. Write variety of reports documenting the results of analysis and recommendations including changes in policies and procedures.
- You will be required to participate in the TTC's Customer Service Ambassador Program.

What Qualifications Do You Bring?
- Your educational background including completion of a post-secondary college diploma or university degree in a related discipline or a combination of education, training and experience deemed to be equivalent is integral and will contribute to the success in this role.
