The Opportunity
The Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT) is located in the traditional territories of the Niitsitapi (Blackfoot) and the people of Treaty 7 which includes the Siksika, the Piikani, the Kainai, the Tsuut’ina, and the Iyarhe Nakoda of Bearspaw, Chiniki and Goodstoney. We are situated on land where the Bow River meets the Elbow River, and the traditional Blackfoot name of this place is “Moh’kinstsis” which we now call the City of Calgary. The City of Calgary is also home to the Métis Nation.
Reporting to the Director of Indigenous Engagement, People and Culture is seeking to hire an Indigenous Student Success Navigator for a 4-year term to connect graduating Indigenous students with employers. The role will build relationships with students and employers, as well as other colleges and universities in Alberta, providing support to all stakeholder groups.
SAIT is taking the lead to pilot this program in Alberta that has had success in BC, the role of Indigenous Student Success Navigator is new and will require an energetic individual with the ability to travel.
A strong understanding of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission and the Calls to Action is essential to understanding SAIT’s commitment to Truth and Reconciliation and intergeneration Indigenous success.

Salary Range: $45,000 - $50,000
