Your Opportunity
We are currently looking for a Senior Power Distribution Engineer to join our Power team. As a technical leader, you will emphasize technical excellence, work closely with the design team and provide the necessary technical leadership required to deliver projects that satisfy client expectations. You will be a champion of quality and provide regular feedback to the team on areas of improvement.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Design infrastructure for power utilities to meet project requirements
- Develop design solutions that meet all applicable codes, standards and regulations
- Lead technical design discussions, internally and externally, to ensure scope objectives are met
- Review and authenticate drawings for power distribution projects
- Provide construction support
- Support development of proposals, project cost estimates and project schedules
- Manage external client relationships through effective and timely communication
- Identify potential safety or environmental concerns and initiate appropriate action
- Provide coaching and guidance to project team members
- Provide technical guidance to customers, stakeholders, and external consultants
- Travel and perform site visits as required
Qualifications
Your Capabilities and Credentials
- Registered P.Eng in Canada
- Demonstrated technical proficiency in utility infrastructure design
- Effective Interpersonal Skills – Strong Written and Verbal skills are a must, to ensure clear communication between team members, clients, contractors, and suppliers
- Able to work effectively both independently under minimal supervision, and as a member of a team in a multi-disciplinary environment
- Strong time management and prioritization skills
- Demonstrated project management skills with the ability to set priorities, organize work and complete work within given timelines
- PLSCAD or SPIDAcalc knowledge would be an asset
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License
Education and Experience
- Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering
- Minimum of 8 years of experience designing power utility infrastructure within North America
Typical office environment working with computers; Stantec offers a flexible work environment (a hybrid model of working in the office and at home). Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.

Pay transparency laws require employers to provide the following information for positions that may be in the following jurisdiction(s):
Salary Range(s):
- Lower Mainland $103,500 - Lower Mainland $155,200 Min/Max Pay Range for postings located in BC (Lower Mainland includes Vancouver & Burnaby)
The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.
