Job Specification:
The successful candidate for the Engineering Technician position participates in the activities of the engineering department by performing various tasks for the benefit of the department or its customers. This position requires a basic knowledge of electronics, IT, audiovisual and television production.
The nature of the position is to perform tasks related to the engineering department by assisting technicians in their tasks so as to increase the execution capacity of the department, to offer good service to customers, and to respect the standards of the department.
The engineering technician must perform his work according to recognized standards, sector objectives, Bell's mission and values.
Position Description:
• Performs the maintenance of a wide variety of equipment and cutting-edge technology software, including the equipment in the "post production / graphics" sector
• Read, understand and produce technical plans and diagrams
• Ensures the integrity of all television production systems
• Organizes and installs equipment and software including programming/configuration
• Develops or participates in the development of technological devices, software applications or other technological tools
• Communicates and establishes contacts with external services
• Collaborates with all users both internally and externally
• Exercises control over the quality of the television product
• Can act as a resource person/advisor for the preparation of a production
• Designs a system from start to finish
• Designs equipment or systems not available on the market
• Suggests procedures and improvements to Bell Media facilities
• Write purchase orders
• Suggests and designs alternative solutions to allow production to continue as normally as possible in a breakdown situation, in person or by telephone when on standby
• Organizes and produces technical documents for reference
• Participates in the establishment and implementation of technical standards
• Masters the basic operation functions of all equipment
• Operates equipment when the situation requires it
• Keeps technical and operational knowledge up to date, and provides training
• Performs all other related task
Required Skills:
- DEC in audiovisual, or an equivalent
- French and English, written and spoken: In the course of their duties, this person will be required to interact with French & English speaking stakeholders across Canada
- Attention to detail and ability to work in a team, knowledge of agile methods
- Good social and interpersonal skills
- Initiative, resourcefulness, sense of organization and ability to work alone
- Very good knowledge of audio/video signals
- Good knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite
- Good knowledge of AVID and Protools environments
- Knowledge of FrontPorch's DivArchive tools, Grass Valley servers, AutoCAD would be an important asset
- Ease of adaptation in a changing environment from an organizational and technological point of view
Work schedule:
Day / Evening / Weekend – On a rotation basis
