While we are preparing to welcome our ProPride guests to the in-person events, we would like to provide a few tips on how attendees can prepare themselves to stay safe and help us create the best experience for everyone.
What to Expect at the ProPride Events
COVID Safety
- We encourage attendees, volunteers and others to get tested if they have symptoms consistent with COVID-19 and stay home if required to self-isolate.
- We provide colour-coded stickers to disclose comfort level with social distancing during our in-person events. Please use the appropriate sticker to let everyone know your personal comfort level with distancing. We request all guests to adhere to these guidelines strictly.
- We encourage attendees, volunteers and all to use face masks if you choose to do so.
Photography & Event Hashtags
- We will have a photographer present at the event to capture the wonderful experience and moments shared during the networking.
- Please let us know when you check in to the event if you prefer to avoid being photographed. We will ensure that you are not visible in the event photos.
- We encourage attendees to post about the event on their social media and may use some of the following hashtags: #ProPride #ProPride2023 #NAMEOFTHECITYProPride #2SLGBTQIA #DEI #Pride #Pride2023 #PrideatWorkCanada
- Follow us on social media, and don’t forget to tag our profiles:
Volunteer & Support
- Please feel free to reach out to individuals wearing the event T-shirt “ProPride” in case of needing any help or support at the venue.
- Not all of our volunteers are staff members from the host organization or Pride at Work Canada, so they might direct attendees to the right person if they are not able to support the request.
- Attendees may reach out to Sandeep Nair (sandeep.nair@prideatwork.ca) or Hanna Haddad (hanna.haddad@prideatwork.ca), who might be present at the event for any further assistance. If not present, they will contact one of our staff team members at the venue.
Making everyone feel welcome
- We highly encourage using inclusive language and respecting the confidentiality of any and all conversations during the event.
- Please pay attention to non-verbal communication, such as cues and body language. Be empathetic about everyone’s life situation.
- Encourage all attendees to talk to someone who they have not met before, build communities, and support each other in networking.
Dress code
- Dress to be comfortable, as these are not formal corporate events. They are Pride celebrations!
- Remember that ProPride events are networking opportunities for everyone to get together.
Food & Beverage
- We will be providing light snacks and beverages during the event.
- We have tried to accommodate all dietary requirements as much as possible if it has been mentioned during registration.
- We will also be serving alcoholic beverages as well during the event. We encourage everyone to drink responsibly.
What to bring
- We encourage all participants to bring any devices or support companions required to make them feel comfortable at the event.
- We will try our best to provide accessibility options if the request is provided to us in advance of the event.
- An open mind to learn and unlearn, an inclusive approach to all.
- Be open to new experiences and sharing best practices.
What to leave at home
- Any valuables
- Strong scented products or perfumes
- Animal companions (unless they are support companions)
- Judgment and expectations
Getting back home
- We encourage all attendees to arrange transportation to get back home if they consumed alcohol during the event. We encourage everyone to follow the law and request not to drink & drive.
- If an attendee needs help booking transportation, please feel free to reach out to our volunteers, who will try their best to find a drive home.
If attendees have registered a guest along with them for the event, we would appreciate it if this information is shared with them. For any further inquiries or questions, please feel free to contact us at info@prideatwork.ca.
