POSITION OVERVIEW
Are you passionate about entrepreneurship and want to contribute to the success of small and medium-sized businesses across Canada? The Writer creates and revises BDC’s editorial B2B content in various formats (articles, blogs, eBooks, presentations, webinars, etc.) and on multiple platforms. The Writer, who is part of the Content Marketing team, is responsible for producing and updating engaging and appealing content to build brand awareness and position BDC as an expert on entrepreneurship.
The successful candidate is a collaborative individual who engages positively with a diverse range of team members, freelancers and stakeholders. In addition to having exceptional writing and communication skills, the writer is knowledgeable in digital communication practices and able to work on a variety of writing projects as editor or writer. The person will be responsible for one-off writing projects and will be asked to take on larger projects as they grow into the role.
CHALLENGES TO BE MET
Research, write and edit articles for the “Resources” section of BDC.ca on a variety of topics concerning small businesses (i.e., how to run a business, HR, financial management, etc.).
Develop compelling B2B content that focuses on sustainability and equipping entrepreneurs to help Canada meet its climate targets.
Collaborate closely with business lines to identify needs and create valuable content for an entrepreneurial audience from across Canada.
Ensure articles and other editorial content in the “Resources” section of BDC.ca are in line with our editorial guidelines and remain up to date and relevant for Canadian entrepreneurs.
Contribute to the development of the content strategy by creating new editorial content in various formats (webinar, video, etc.) and across platforms (website, social media, email, etc.).
Work in close collaboration with the translation/revision team, the branding team, the public relations team and the digital experience team to ensure smooth content creation, publication and promotion.
Keep abreast of economic and social trends that impact small and medium-sized businesses as well as entrepreneurs’ preferred methods and channels of communication.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
University degree in communications/journalism or related experience
At least three years of experience in writing and editing B2B content. Added experience in B2C marketing content will also be considered
An interest in and/or experience writing about sustainability and climate issues is considered an asset
Knowledge of business and the economy
Skills, Knowledge and Competencies
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both English and French
Ability to create engaging and appealing content
Knowledge of Google Analytics and SEO analysis is considered an asset
Ability to manage multiple and sometimes conflicting priorities that often have tight deadlines
Excellent interpersonal skills, autonomous, attention to detail and organized
A person who is proactive, innovative and creative
Good knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
Familiarity with AI writing assistance tools is a plus
