Job Summary

The Theatre Front of House Attendant acts as the first line of customer service at the McIntyre Performing Arts Centre, and ensures a positive guest client experience, comfort and safety. Duties would include ushering at events, concessions sales, box office operations & general customer service.

What you'll be doing:

  • FOH Ushering - showing patrons to their seat, maintaining Audience control, providing client service to guests with directions and information, lobby setups & tear down (tables & chairs), receiving & dealing with customer complaints.
  • Box Office Services - Selling, issuing and/or taking/checking tickets at events - online system.
  • Concessions & Bar sales - Selling concessions, including alcohol at events, restocking inventory, managing credit / debit machine (no cash), concession operations setup and takedown.
  • Other duties as assigned, general housekeeping duties, ensuring venue is prepared for public.

What you'll bring to the role:

  • Completion of secondary school.
  • 6 months of experience in events or customer service.
  • Interest and experience in events or theatre operations.
  • Experience in a client facing role.
  • Must be able to lift & carry 20kgs, and potentially heavier objects with assistance.
  • Ontario Smart Serve Trained - will provide training if necessary (required for alcohol sales only).
  • Demonstrated commitment and understanding of human rights, equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility.
  • The ability to communicate and work effectively with diverse students, employees, and communities.
