Tenure Track Faculty Appointment (Adult Acute Care)

The School of Nursing, Faculty of Health Sciences, McMaster University is accepting applications for a tenure track faculty appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin on July 1, 2026 or as negotiated. The incumbent will be a nurse researcher with a program of research focused on adult acute care.  The applicants’ clinical and research interests would ideally focus on interventions and research which impact outcomes for adults in acute care settings/illness. We seek candidates whose research and teaching interests will add to and strengthen our mission of transforming lives through nurturing relationships and evidence-informed innovations in nursing research, education, and practice. 

 

One of three professional schools within McMaster’s Faculty of Health Sciences, the School of Nursing offers undergraduate and graduate nursing programs. As a member of a larger Faculty, the School of Nursing offers opportunities for interprofessional education and research. For over 75 years, McMaster’s School of Nursing has delivered nursing education programs that have produced generations of professional nurses who are critical thinkers and contribute to nursing practice, research, education, policy, and administration.

Appointment description

 

The School of Nursing, Faculty of Health Sciences, McMaster University, is accepting applications for a tenure-track appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin on July 1, 2026. 

 

Key responsibilities include:  

  •  

    providing students with exceptional learning opportunities in undergraduate and graduate education programs, including graduate student supervision; 

  •  

    pursuing a rigorous program of research and demonstrating success in peer-reviewed grant applications; and 

  •  

    engaging in corporate citizenship through contributions within the School of Nursing and the community. 

 

The successful applicant must: 

  •  

    be registered in good standing (or be eligible for registration) with the College of Nurses of Ontario; 

  •  

    Hold a PhD in Nursing by the appointment start date; 

  •  

    demonstrate a defined program of research, record of peer-reviewed publications, and history of research funding; 

  •  

    have experience and skill in teaching undergraduate/graduate students, including in one or more of the following areas: nursing and health sciences, and/or nursing theory; and 

  •  

    contribute to educational research, evaluation, and scholarship.

Please note that letters of recommendations are not required at the time of application. These will be solicited at later stages of the search process.
