JOB OVERVIEW
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Data Governance and Analytics, the Segmentation Analytics Manager (Business Partner) will strategically partner with Mass Marketing revenue leads to improve the overall targeting, conversion, response, renewal, retention, gifts, gift frequency, average gift, revenue per donor, and donor lifetime value across mass fundraising streams through advanced data and analytics strategies.
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated data segmentation analytics expert to join our Data and Analytics team as a mass marketing business partner. Acting as a conduit, they will link fundraising staff to analytics and data solutions and resources, being the translator between the two, ensuring requirements are standardized, understood and dealt with effectively. Blending business acumen with technical data skills the manager will recommend and develop effective solutions to meet business objectives. Leaning on their familiarity with fundraising and expertise with data, best practices in data governance, the underpinning data and technologies, they will provide recommendations to their team to build stronger alignment between the data, everyday operations, and the overall business strategy.
The candidate will collaborate with revenue leads to collect segment-specific data needs, assess competing priorities, and mitigate collision risks for integrated omnichannel and standalone revenue programs (direct mail, email, telemarketing) aimed at growing Annual, Monthly, Digital Peer-to-Peer, and eCommerce products.
The Segmentation Analytics Manager will be pivotal in developing data solutions and utilizing insights to optimize fundraising, enhance donor engagement, and maximize mass marketing impact. Responsibilities include analyzing donor and customer data, identifying trends, recommending targeted strategies for successful campaigns, conducting segment test evaluations, standardizing post-performance dashboards, aligning with key performance indicators, and collaborating with Mass Marketing leads to streamline processes and performance monitoring.
Segment Fundraising Strategy
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business objectives, facilitates data and technical requirements gathering, and develop segmentation strategies aligned with mass marketing fundraising objectives.
- Recommend strategies and tactics to Mass Marketing leadership to improve campaign, segment, channel and product results.
- Manage the design and implement segmentation models to optimize and improve campaign effectiveness.
- Work closely with the Mass Marketing teams to optimize campaign targeting through effective segmentation.
- Support the design and segment testing requirements and execution for email, web, social, landing pages, A/B testing, pay-per-click, and other lead segments.
- Act as the subject matter expert for all segment targeting requirements to elevate conversion/response strategies.
- Assess and streamline the current segment recency frequency and monetary targeting requirements, define current/future state objectives, key results, recommendations, and test plans to grow segment revenue and respond to new revenue opportunities.
- Support third-party platform segment sources, evaluate and assess situational trends and observations within segments to identify affinity for digital and programmatic acquisition campaigns.
- Support segment fundraising go-to-market processes/plans, collaborating with internal (channel/product owners) and external (acquisitions vendors) partners to drive product/channel targeting, conversion and find efficiencies.
- Monitor the segment fundraising ecosystem and implement segment-focused best practices, and industry trends, differentiate CCS segment fundraising offers to grow revenue.
- Champion a deep, actionable understanding of segment performance as a foundational discipline for acquisitions, retention, and donor (customer) lifetime value growth strategies
Data Delivery and Solutions
- Manage the collection, refinement, and definition of campaign business and data requirements for Mass Marketing streams, working with team members to translate to and deliver data and technical solutions.
- Apply DataOps practices to the intake, support, and delivery of solutions.
- Translate business criteria and rules into technical and data criteria and logic; contribute to a repository of data standards and rules; adhere to CCS and DAS data practices and business rules for the use of data and communicate changes and risks.
- Using CCS’ data solutions (e.g. warehouse, Tableau, Salesforce), create data sets to support segmentation development.
- Work with team members to execute and fulfill data requests, data lists, and segmentation across channels; validates the accuracy and flow of data for extracts and analytics.
- Collaborate with fundraising, Digital Marketing and Solutions, and CRM Solutions teams to ensure the delivery of data requirements for omni-channel marketing, including web, social, email, mail, phone, SMS
- Ensure the health of Mass Marketing data, monitoring data flows, data quality and integrity, recommending strategies, standards, and processes to improve data and work with team members to develop and maintain for purpose.
Segment Analytics, Reporting & Insights
- Manage the standardization and development of cross-departmental segment KPI dashboards, segment affinity analytics, and targeting strategies.
- Establish segment reporting for the campaign, program, product and channel performance and provide insights to grow revenue, donor, gifts, frequency of giving, average gift and revenue per donor.
- Set up a segment analytics dashboard and consolidation of multiple analytics and reports views to support the departmental retention, renewal, and segment moves management priorities.
- Utilize advanced analytics, statistical methods, and data mining techniques to analyze donor and constituent data, uncover actionable insights, identify new segments, and optimize existing segments based on behavior, demographics, and other relevant factors.
- Manage the development and implementation of predictive models to forecast donor behavior and preferences for mass marketing streams.
- Present findings to both technical and non-technical audiences, translating complex analytics into actionable recommendations.
- Evaluate performance of segment and campaign initiatives based on segmentation criteria
- Monitor the performance of fundraising and marketing campaigns, analyzing segmentation effectiveness over time.
- Conduct post-campaign analysis to assess the impact of segmentation on key performance indicators.
- Provide actionable recommendations for continuous improvement and optimization.
- Monitor and evaluate the segment/product/channel affinity performance and provide recommendations to move Annual Giving segments into Monthly Giving, renew giving, and improve the cancellation and lapsed giving trends.
- Collaborate with team members to establish and maintain best practices for data quality
QUALIFICATIONS:
- A minimum of 8 years of experience with a strategic focus or combination of data-driven marketing with a focus on segmentation, donor targeting, marketing data management, audience mapping/planning/predictive experience, preferably in the not-for-profit sector.
- Proven track record of delivering best-in-class data segmentation and targeting strategies for offline and online business needs.
- Strong ability to align, set-up, build, manage and optimize business processes and multiple competing revenue priorities.
- Exceptional analytical, presentation, communication, data visualization and project management skills to fulfill all campaign, channel and product plans from a segment-focused lens.
- Advanced experience working with data warehouse, SQL Server Management Studio, and expert SQL coding skills
- Experience designing and developing complex data sets and databases.
- Familiar with project management and agile tools (e.g. Azure DevOps, Jira, Asana)
- Expertise with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
- Excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work with complex, incomplete, and ambiguous data criteria from a variety of sources, and to operate effectively/efficiently.
- Ability to innovate and use different segmentation models to align with modern and future-looking strategies; leverage predictive and affinity approaches to develop solutions.
- Exceptional team player and business partnership skills with data-driven negotiation, influencing and decision-making skills.
- Experience tackling large-scale and complex business requirements and challenges.
- Excellent sector knowledge and understanding of the Canadian not–for–profit landscape.
- Advanced level of proficiency in data and customer management systems, Salesforce, Marketing Cloud, Google Analytics Data Studio, Luminate Online ,MS Office and other software as a service (SaaS) or platform as a service (PaaS) solutions an asset.
- Bilingual (English / French) an asset.
