The Gender and Social Justice Program invites applications for the following teaching position to be offered in the Winter 2026 session.

Course Name(s)/Number(s): GENDERST 6GH3/PEACJUST 4GH3 – Social Justice Perspectives on Gender and Health

 

Term: Winter 2026, January 5 – April 22, 2026 (final exams April 9-22, 2026)

Number of Units per Section: 3

 

Location: McMaster Main Campus – In-person

 

Projected Enrollment: 25           

 

Projected TA Support: N/A

 

Wage Rate* $8,922.68 (as per CUPE Local 3906, Unit 2 Collective Agreement)  

 

Start Time and Duration: 3 hours lecture/week (Fridays 11:30 am -2:20 pm). 

 

 

 

Course Description/Relevant Employment Duties

 

Drawing on intersectional feminist, anti-racist, and anti-colonial feminist theories, this course examines gender as it intersects with race, culture, sexual orientation, citizenship status, socio-economic status, age, and (dis)ability shapes health outcomes and experiences accessing health services.

 

This class is open to level 4 undergraduate students and graduate students. 

 

Required Qualifications

  • PhD completed (or near completion) in a relevant field.
  • Evidence of training or experience in the subject areas relevant to the course.
  • Previous experience teaching at the university level.
  • A commitment to incorporating principles of accessibility, equity, diversity and inclusion in teaching practice.
 

 

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience employing flexible and accessible pedagogies.
  • Experience using Brightspace/D2L and/or other digital technologies for teaching and learning.
 

*Supplemented Fees- 15.02(a) The employee may be eligible to receive supplemented fees in accordance with Schedule C of the Collective Agreement.  The actual rate of pay when in excess of the base rate of pay is deemed to include any supplemented fees owing, to the extent of the excess amount.  If the actual rate of pay is less than the sum of the base rate of pay and the supplemented fees owing, then the employee shall receive the difference.
