The Senior Visual Storytelling Producer leads the creation of high-quality visual content that drives the success of NAIT’s comprehensive campaign. Through strategic planning, hands-on production, and digital optimization, this role transforms NAIT’s priorities into compelling stories that inspire donors, partners, and community audiences.
The producer captures, edits, and delivers video, photography, and motion graphics that highlight NAIT students, alumni, industry partners, applied research, and the proposed Advanced Skills Centre. They combine creative strategy with advanced tools–including AI-assisted platforms–to streamline production and maximize reach across digital channels.

Key Responsibilities:
Story Planning & Creative Direction
- Collaborate with MarCom, Advancement, and campus partners to identify visual storytelling opportunities aligned with campaign goals and institutional priorities.
- Develop creative concepts, shot lists, and production plans for videos, photo shoots, and multimedia series.
- Present concepts and storyboards to stakeholders; incorporate feedback while protecting the integrity of the story and brand.
- Conduct pre-interviews and research to understand subjects, locations, and story angles.

- Ensure all content reflects NAIT’s brand standards, accessibility requirements, and ethical storytelling practices.
Production (Video, Photography, Motion)
- Lead on-site and studio-based video and photo shoots, including camera operation, lighting, audio capture, and directing on-camera participants (students, staff, donors, partners).
- Capture high-quality still and motion assets suitable for use across web, social, events, and broadcast channels.
- Coordinate logistics for shoots, including scheduling, permits, equipment, and vendor or freelance support as needed.
- Follow safety protocols when filming in labs, construction sites, and other applied technology environments.
Post-Production & Digital Optimization
- Edit video and photo content using tools such as Adobe Creative Cloud, DaVinci Resolve, and After Effects (or equivalent).
- Apply colour correction, motion graphics, titling, and sound design to deliver polished, on-brand stories.
- Use AI-assisted tools, where appropriate, to support tasks such as captioning, tagging, versioning, and format optimization, in line with NAIT’s AI policy.
- Prepare assets for distribution across web, social, paid media, and internal channels; collaborate with Digital and Social teams on deployment strategies.
- Contribute to the development of visual storytelling frameworks, guidelines, and asset libraries that can be reused across the campaign.
Skills & Abilities:
- Advanced skill in video production, photography, and post-production, with a strong portfolio demonstrating storytelling impact.
- Strong narrative instincts and interviewing skills; able to draw out authentic stories and emotional moments on camera.
- Proficiency with professional production tools (e.g., cameras, lighting, audio gear, Adobe Creative Cloud, DaVinci Resolve, After Effects).
- Familiarity with AI-assisted content tools and a commitment to using them ethically and transparently.
- Ability to manage multiple projects at various stages of production under tight timelines.
- Excellent interpersonal skills; able to direct on-camera talent with empathy and professionalism.
- Strong understanding of accessibility, privacy, consent, and IP considerations in photo/video work (e.g., FOIP, copyright, captioning).
Qualifications:
- Diploma or degree in film production, communications, visual arts, digital media, or a related field. Equivalent professional experience in visual storytelling will be considered.
- Minimum five years’ experience in video and photo production, including concept development, production, and post-production.
- Experience producing content for campaigns, fundraising, or reputation-building initiatives is an asset.
- Experience working in applied technology, education, or industry environments (e.g., trades, labs, industrial sites) is an asset.
- Transport Canada Basic or Advanced RPAS (drone) certification is considered an asset.
Applicants with education credentials earned outside of Canada should have their credentials evaluated by World Education Services or the International Qualifications Assessment Service (IQAS).
Remuneration: $66,327.56 - $89,029.46 annually, plus a comprehensive benefits package.
